Lisle 20610 Inline Spark Tester(2Pack)

Between the 4 letter words, countless beers, and two shoulders that now need operations I finally got the old tiller fired up. After shooting gas out of the exhaust and hanging the motor upside to dry it occurred to me that maybe I have a spark problem. My wife had to do the clicking because my arms were in slings, but 2 days later your boy had this great spark tester. Now after a few beers I was able to face the tiller without shaking, I popped the spark tester on after some adjustment of the boot. The boot is a tad long for small engine plugs, so I simply slid it up the wire a bit. This time I had the motor on the vice and was able to get a drill on the crank. Gave her a few bumps and of course... no sparky sparky. Ordered a new MAG-NEATO! and installed that. Did a follow up with the spark tester and she lit up nice and bright. Put everything back together and paid some kid to pull the string a few dozen times to get the thing fired up. She bad.

This inline spark tester by Lisle is one the the cheap tools that works just as well as anything else. It makes diagnosing a no-run situation fast and easy.It is beyond simple to use: (make sure the engine is off)-Disconnect the spark plug wire from your spark plug-Connect the boot of the tool to the spark plug-Insert the rod of the tool into the removed wire from the first step.-Start or crank the engine and watch inside the glass of the tool. If there is no spark inside the tool, that tells you the coil or distributor is not producing spark and further diagnosis is necessary. If you have spark, the tool will show. A dim, orange spark indicates a weak spark. Ideally, the spark will be a bright white or blueish color.Overall a great tool that is essential for any toolbox.

This tester DOES NOT WORK with KIA, specifically "2003 KIA Sedona EX". The Connections are too large. KIA has duel connection coils for 2 spark plugs. The coils are moulded "phenolic" (hard plastic) and because this product has 1/4" diameter connections, it is impossible to fit the (approximately) 1/8 to 3/16" diameter KIA spark plugs and connections. THIS PRODUCT MAY ONLY WORK WITH AMERICAN CARS!!!BE CAREFUL WHEN SELECTING THIS PRODUCT TO USE WITH FOREIGN CARS AS THE CONNECTIONS MAY BE TOO LARGE!!!Before I purchased this product, I asked the seller if this product would work for a 2003 KIA Sedona. The Seller responded and said "YES". This unit WILL NOT work for it's intended purpose out of the packaging to test Coil Spark from a KIA unless modified.

I recommend one of these to a friend, which is who this purchase was for.I've had mine for about 6 or 7 years, and I wouldn't want to do any kind of small engine work without one. It works on all spark plug engines from automobiles to string trimmers to push mowers. Simple to use: connect it inline with your spark plug, crank the engine and a healthy spark with light the tiny neon bulb in the glass. You can even run the engine with the tester still attached.I have yet to see another style than I like better than mine.Just buy this one; you will not regret this purchase.

Like a second pair of hands. I do with the lead was longer, that way you could always be able to position it somewhere that you could check the spark in a non-starting car, and the lead does not work for checking a coil-distributor (you just need two old wires for this) but apart from those issues that can be easily worked around, I will never be without one of these!Best way to check the brightness for a possible weak spark is to put it on a strong running car so you have a visual reference.

I used to think these inexpensive spark testers were a novelty tool that didn't belong in a professional mechanics tool chest but have since changed my mind after using the tester to successfully diagnose a failing ignition coil on my Ford Ranger. If you are troubleshooting a no start condition then this is not very useful tool in my opinion but it works great if you are diagnosing a failing coil that experiences intermittent faults. My favorite feature is being able to connect it inline with one plug and start the engine instead of other testers that require you to press the tester against the plug wire and have a second person crank the engine. This way you can monitor a specific bank for several minutes if you need to. There is no country of origin listed anywhere on the packaging or tool but it has a quality look and feel & I expect it to last.

I have 4 old tractors dating back to a 1953 Ford Golden Jubilee. These are working tractors on our little ranch. As you might expect I never had enough them all working at once. This little spark tester has been in constant use for a couple years now. I wouldn't call it good but rather INVALUABLE!

This spark tester saved me $250. That's how much the Echo authorized repair center wanted to troubleshoot & repair my gas edger when it failed to start after 6 flawless years of regular maintenance. This spark tester proved trouble at the inline fuel filter that I had replaced during the maintenance cycle. The fuel line was replaced and it works perfectly again.

Inutil cuando tu problema es intermitente y tu carro falla cuando quiere. Es util cuando el problema es muy obvio como que algun cable o bujia no funcionan para nada y de esta manera puedes saber cual es el problema pero incluso las bujias las puedes revisar escuchando nada mas con el motor encendido los tronidos por lo que no le ayude mucha utilidad.Mi carro tenia problema de ignicion y no sabia exactamente si eran los cables de bujias, las bujias o simplemente el inyector. Pense que este cable me ayudaria pero la "luz/chispa" de este aparato prendia normal incluso cuando lo aceleraba porque en general mi carro le funcionaban todas las partes pero "a medias" entonces este probador no ayudo de nada.Como dije solo es de utilidad cuando alguna de las partes de plano no sirve para nada pero esto ya es bastante obvio en tu carro. Terminé limpiando inyectores, cambiando todos los cables por nuevos y haciendole servicio al carro reemplazaron todas las bujias y el problema se solucionó.El problema terminó siendo principalmente los cables de bujias que funcionaban intermitentemente al manejar solamente lo cual este probador no puede diagnosticar.

Seems to be ok . not versitlie enough for me , can not test motorcycles/ atvs because the unit will not connect to stud type spark plugs. check out NGK website . (Mac tools has one with a removable cap to test either plug)

I like the quality and feel of this tool its well made and feels like a professional tool not a DIY tool.However I have found that it is quite hard to see the flashing light in daylight. I tested a lawn mower and had to find cardboard to shade the tool. Perhaps under a car bonnet or in a garage it might be easier to see.

Very fast shipping!! Works great on my4 cylinder car plug the straight boot onto the spark plug in the engine, and the 90 degree boot onto the tester. Plug the spark plug wire onto the the other tip of the tester. Works great!!!
