Brusso hinges - great!
Hinges are well made and great for jewelry box and small box projects. They are made to last and are well worth the money..

Amazing hinges, cheesy screws
The hinges are absolutely top notch, but just do yourself a favor and throw away the screws that come with them. I just got done cutting a deep mortise and patching in a piece of wood under the hinge after a screw sheared off. I drilled them slightly oversize (3/32), pre-tapped with the steel screw, and lubricated the brass screw with paste wax but it still sheared right off. Giant pain!I have some other brass screws which I don't even need to pre-tap...

Excellent hinges
Bought these for a special box for our son and daughter-in-law's wedding day -- excellent to work with and the top did not fall down at all even with children near the box.

Woodworkers Beware!
Currently (Feb, 2013), Brusso is shipping these hinges, JB-102, with #3-3/4" sheet metal brass screws and one steel screw of the same specs. These screws have a very strong tendency to shear at the head when you are screwing them in EVEN when you follow the (hard to find) guidance of drilling a 5/64" pilot hole, pre-screw with the steel screw provided and then insert the brass screws, first lubricating with beeswax or soap. I learned this the hard way on a very nice box I was making. If you purchase the hinges, better to go to a well-stocked hardware store and buy some #4-5/8" flat head wood screws (Phillips head, if possible) to use with these hinges. The heads won't set down as far, but they are still flush with the hinge surface. Then use the same conservative process of drilling the pilot hole (5/64"), pre-screw with a lubricated steel screw and then finally attach with a lubricated #4 5/8" brass screw. Brusso makes a nice hinge (and you pay for it). They should have more respect for their customers and supply screws that are more reliable. Hence, the two-star rating.

great hinge but very expensive
These hinges work great for jewelry boxes as they are almost invisible when closed and hold the box lid open at a little over 90 degrees when open. Only 3 stars due to extremely high price.

Four Stars
The screw to pre-thread the holes prior to driving in the brass screws is cheap and weak.

Perfect for the jewelry box I made for my wife
