EGO Power Station 3040
Living in Florida, we try to be ready for loss of power. We have a small propane fueled generator to keep our refrigerator and freezer running in power loss situations. Wanted to add solar power option. Bought this Power Station 3040 (PS) with plans to add solar panels. We have a number of EGO lawn tools and batteries. Testing the PS with a variety of EGO batteries. Ran our refrigerator, lights and IPhone to test both 120v receptacles and USB outlets. All worked well. The PS gives us a source of power for non battery tools on our property without luging the fueled generator. While the PS will run a refrigerator, it is limited to around 12 hrs with the 10amp batteries (4). However, we may find we can extend the useful battery life by turning off the appliances every few hours. Glad to add the PS to our emergency preparations. The PS has grab handles that make it easy to move around (without batteries is easier). Add batteries when you have the PS where it is needed. Added the included shields to help protect the PS. Tried using the PS battery charging system. Works as well for us as using a larger EGO battery charger (cords are included and can be stored on the PS). The PS will NOT provide power and battery charging at the same time. Only noise is a low fan. Great display of battery status and estimated run times (can use different amp hour batteries). Overall, think this PS is a reasonable tool for limited emergency power backup. In the future, we plan to add solar panels. At this point for us, solar/battery PS are not enough to keep us in power for extended periods unless we invest serious funds.

Quite Pricey! Just Like All EGO Equipment Is. (Not very price attractive to the average consumer.)
This little power pack is a great device for power on the go. Using 4 12ah battery's, it will run for 4 hours at 1800-2000 watts. Sometimes it has a hard time taking the surge from tool startup and will error out overload. That is my first complaint. One should take note not to try and use any plug in device that draws more than 15 amps to start. Possibly a short cord with a capacitor built in would help this problem. 2nd is one must use genuine EGO branded lithium battery's. The others sold on this platform that are aftermarket for a third of the price will not work for whatever reason. Possibly due to the pure sine-wave output of this device. The aftermarket knock off battery's seem to run good on all the other EGO yard tools I have, just not this Nexus 3000. 4, 12ah EGO battery's new will add well over 2K to the cost of just the unit sold without the battery's So you are looking at about a little more than a dollar a watt or more as the running capacity is only 2000 watts with up to 3000 for surge. One does not have to use 12ah it will work with less ah battery's and less than 4 in place as well. Which of course will lower the reserve capacity. I like it because it does not require any maintenance other than keeping it clean and dust and dirt free from the vents. Over 100 pounds if you try and lift it with battery's installed. Wish it had wheels. But a little engineering and one can put wheels on it that do not look to rinky-dink.

Good product, looks neat, lacking a couple features
Very fancy item. Does everything it says and has a lot plastic pieces and a kinda bulky power supply (laptop type but like for 6 laptops) and a neat display to show info. The only real complaints I have is that it doesn’t really keep batteries charged once it charges them and it has a sequential charger so putting 4 batteries on charges one then the next, etc. It does charge them all just does one at a time so don’t expect four batteries charged any faster than the charger that came with them can do one at a time. Since it doesn’t really maintain a charge on the batteries don’t expect to plug it in, put batteries on it and use it months later when the power goes out and still have full charge on batteries because they will be down a decent amount by then.

Easy to use
I like this unit because when you plug something in, the display shows how much energy you’re using and how much time you have left. We are hoping to use this when the power goes out so that we can still make coffee and run a few small items. It’s not for long time use, but much cheaper than a whole house generator. Plus, we already had nine 56v batteries of various Ah that we can use to power this unit.

Nope! Much more cost-effective options out there.
The Bluetooth features don’t work on this device at all, so you can’t use your phone to see the usage or when a battery is getting low or anything like that. The manufacturer basically broke the app so the wireless functionality no longer works and they said they are not going to ever update it or fix it. The price on this thing is ridiculous too because I bought a DJI 1 kW battery pack with the batteries inside and it can do the same thing this can and all of the wireless functionality works. I guess if you’ve got money to burn and some extra ego batteries, you could use this while looking at the display only. The solar feature only charges at 180W for an extra $200 adapter and my DJI can charge solar at 450W with a $60 adapter can I can plug ego chargers into that to charge my ego batteries. Did I mention that this thing weighs about the same as my DJI with the batteries in it? Honestly, they couldn’t pay me to use this, so went, went back.

Works well for camping and home power outages.
I really like this Ego power station. It's very nice for camping or home power outages. I'm a big fan of Ego products and have several. The quality is amazing. I've had an Ego 18" chainsaw for several years and cut and delimbed hundreds of trees. The batteries eventually died, but the saw is still going strong on it's 3rd chain.

Full 2000 watts with one 7.5 battery.
So far I like it. I am disappointed at the low starting watts of 3000. I tested it with one 7.5AH battery. On a harbor freight 5 ton log splitter, the motor nudges and it trips out. I tried this on an inverter welder from harbor freight and it works on low setting but trips if you have a bad arch. As for the WiFi, Ego has next to nothing on the requirements. I tried to set it up and it just fails. I contact ego and the said try this: Normally all new routers are dual band routers, if user can see 2 similar SSIDs with one clearly marked as 5GHz or 2.4GHz, connect to the 2.4GHz one; or try WIFI connection use phone as a hotspot to verify if the connection issue is related to WIFI environments. I did try the hotspot and it would not connect. I have Deco mesh system. So I disabled the guest WiFi and the 2G network. After trying 3 more times it finally connected to WiFi. Bluetooth was no issue here. So, hopefully this helps anyone with WiFi issue and if they can use this for more than a refrigerant.

EGO Nexus Power Station provides awesome peace of mind
I recently purchased the EGO Nexus Power Station after doing some critical research of portable gas (gasoline/propane) generators and battery powered inverters. The Power Station was a perfect fit for my particular situation. Storm related power outages of up to 24 hours are a reality in Hawaii, more an inconvenience than life threatening, altho we do have tsunamis and hurricanes from time to time. The Power Station can be safely used inside my home, none of the dangerous fumes that gas generators produce. It is quiet, even when the fans kicks in to help keep the system cool, unlike the loud gas motors of generators. It is super easy to use, just a push of a button and it’s ready to power, no hard pulling of a starter cord. No need to worry about gas, oil, spark plugs, just snap in the batteries, quick, clean and easy. I purchased 2 EGO 7.5 amp batteries to compliment the stock I already have to provide added emergency power. I tested the Power Station with just the two 7.5s and powered my 25 cubic inch fridge for over 4 hours using a little more than 25% of the available power of the batteries (Fridge compressor turned on 2 times). I also tested the portability of the Power Station, running a vacuum cleaner to clean out my car and powering a multitool to fix a broken sprinkler pipe outside my fence line. I also vacuumed the inside of my house and ran my computer for about an hour. Together, the fridge, vacuum, multitool and computer used around 50% of the available power of the 2 batteries. The Power Station w/ the 2 batteries weighed in at around 45 lbs. With its carry handles it was light enough for me to carry around the yard/house with no problems. The downside of the Power Station is charging the batteries during a blackout. But GOOD NEWS! EGO will be selling a solar charging adaptor later this month for around $150. The recommended solar panels for this charger sell for less than $100 on Amazon. This is a must have, must buy option for me!
