Good light. We bought 9 of these for our clubhouse, and one quit working after 8 years!! This one is the replacement for that fixture!!

Absolutely love this light. I used this to replace a 30W 2700K Halo Ring Fluorescent Light Fixture. While the Fluorescent light is reasonably efficient, the light output is lacking and the lights themselves occasionally flicker on startup up (common with fluorescent lighting).Upon first inspection the fixture quality itself isn't anything to write home about. The plastics and metals are relatively thin and the whole unit is very very lightweight. Installation was a breeze and identical to any other light fixture: White to white, black to black, and ground to green/ground. There are two sets of holes to hang the light, a closer pair and a further pair. These are standard in the industry so fitment is not an issue.The color seems to be about 3000K however I have no way to measure this. The light output for is excellent. The light is dispersed quite well throughout the room and the fixture itself looks fantastic. Once it's installed, it does not look or feel cheap in any way.My home feels much more welcoming without the fluorescent ballasts buzzing and weird circular light output. Instead just soft, clean bright, efficient LED light. If you think the light is a bit too bright for your tastes, just pick up some dimmable switches. And the best part: no more changing bulbs!These lights are fantastic. I enjoy them so much that I am going to be updating the rest of my house with them. The 16" light is perfect for larger rooms. I put 12" lights (same but smaller light Cloudy Bay® DCO1215830BN 12-inch 3000K Warm White Dimmable 15W 1050lm LED Flush Mount Ceiling Fixture -120W Incandescent Equivalent, ETL Energy Star LED Saturn Flush Mount , Brushed Nickel in my mudroom, hallway and laundry room. I can't wait to do the rest of my house!

I bought the 16 inch,23 watt version to replace a twin tube, 4 foot, 80 watt fluorescent fixture in my 10x12 kitchen that has a 7 foot ceiling.That low ceiling means that the sideways light dispersion is important as my upper cabinets are right against it. LEDs are no where near as omnidirectional and broad spectrum color wise as the old lamps so fixture design is vital and this one does it pretty well. The upper cabinet illumination though noticeably dimmer within about a foot of the ceiling, is still quite good. Not a issue at all if you have higher ceilings. Down lower there I need great light while handling knives, reading measuring cups, etc., the light is great.Color wise the diffuser is doing a great job of making the 3K LED light into broad spectrum. I have a Real Color Wheel that I used to test this against my OTT light and sunlight - I fared very well. I really makes separating my dark various color socks a lot easier than some of the other older LED fixtures I have with lessor color accuracy and band width.Total illumination seems about 70% of the 80 watt fluorescent fixture that made the room very bright. I would say it is about as bright as 150 watts of incandescent lamps..I waited a couple years to replace this as suitable fixtures were too expensive. The prices are better now. At my KWH rate and usage time of 7 hours a day. I figure the savings on electricity will pay out the cost in about 40 months time.I hope I answered all the questions I had when I was searching for this light - I tried. LOL

As some other reviews have said, the materials may appear to some as "non-substantial," however (like others have said), the installed product looks fabulous! This is my first LED-type ceiling light and I am super impressed! Really lit up my walk-in closet! I am installing a motion sensor light switch one of these days as well so I can enter and leave with my hands full of clothes and not have to fumble for the switch (plus save money by keeping me from leaving the light on all day). I am also putting in a motion sensor switch with dimmer so if me or my husband has to get up early, we can keep the light low and not disturb the other.My husband has just enough experience to install ceiling lights and switches on his own if things don't get too complicated. He said he had no trouble at all installing this light and was happy about that.I only gave it four stars because I found a small "dimple" in the metal ring upon opening the box, which surprised me because it arrived in a very substantial box inside another very substantial box. Therefore, the "dimple" happened when it was manufactured or packed and quality control did not catch it. However, no one will ever notice the "dimple" on this installed light, so I plan on forgetting about it.That said, there was one other issue that did tick me off. There are 3 metal rods that extend from one metal ring on the "base" (wired part) to the second metal ring (effectively holding the diffusing cover in place) and then 3 metal "caps" that screw on to tighten and secure it all together. A problem existed (which thankfully was learned upon opening the box and fiddling with the product instead of while up on a ladder trying to install) where the rods end in a screw in which the "caps" screw onto for tightening. The "screw" at the end of the rod is NOT fixed -- you can unscrew it out of the rod OR you can screw it all the way into the rod. IF these screws are not placed at the exact right length (all three of them not too short), then you will not be able to get all three caps tightened around the white cover and fail the installation of the product.Once you realized the screws are adjustable and set them correctly, there is absolutely no issue. I just got ticked off because it would have been so easy in the manufacturing to have the screws fixed at the correct length to begin with.In the end, however, I am giving this product a very good review because everything else has met my expectations and I would buy another one again. I'm thinking about getting two of the 12" ones and changing my lights in my laundry room... they look really cool installed and the lighting is very clear and bright.
