It is the best!
This sling is the best!! Perfect fit and comfort!! It holds the arm and shoulder in place without any slipping. The person wearing it cannot get it off without help and that makes it good for people that have confusion. By far this is the best shoulder sling/brace you can find!

Excellent sling
Well I am no expert on slings, but I suffered a broken shoulder two weeks ago and I have learned a few things since. I was discharged from the ER with a sling. The nurse candidly noted that it was not a very good one and I could buy a better one. So when I got home I started my Amazon research. I read reviews and this one stood out, primarily because it did not dig into the neck. The one I got from the ER was instantly annoying my neck. I was hesitant to buy it because some reviews noted that it was complicated to put on and that you would need assistance, and I am 74 years old. But other reviews included some very helpful videos so I thought I could manage it myself. I was not going to get help from home with this due to my husbandโs own health issues. So, first, I got it the very next day. Fantastic! Within about 24 hours of getting home from the ER with the crappy sling I had my new sling. Thanks to the helpful videos, I was able to put it on myself without any big problem. It was instantly more comfortable than the ER sling. It is padded and soothing. The cradle portion for the elbow extends far up the arm and has a warming and swaddling effect. The one from the ER (and a mesh I bought for showering but did not like ) felt like they cut into the back of my upper arm (as well as my neck) This sling has an extra strap that hangs down your back when you put the primary (nicely padded) strap over your shoulder. If you make sure not to get it tangled, you reach back with your good arm and grab it and wrap it around your waist/rib area in front and attach it to the sling with the Velcro tip. It holds your arm against your body which aids with immobilization and also has a swaddling effect. I loosen it for sleep. It has been two weeks now and Iโm so glad I got this. My last x ray showed no movement of the fracture so itโs doing its primary job of immobilizing the bone so it can heal. There is a small strap that goes over your arm near the elbow that keeps it cradled and an adjustable wrist strap that raises or lowers your hand to a position where you are comfortable. Pulling down in the back strap before you fasten it also affects how high your wrist sits against your body The Velcro closures on the straps can be a bit of a nuisance and attach to stuff where you donโt want them to attach but itโs pretty easy to get the hang of sticking them to a part of the sling so that they are out if your way til you are ready to fasten them where you want them. All in all Iโm so pleased with this sling. Iโm enduring my first broken bone and I think this sling has made a difficult situation a bit more livable. Update from newest X Ray on June 3. No movement of the fracture. So the sling is definitely doing its job. Update as of six weeks from injury: My latest X ray showed no movement of the fracture so this sling did its job and I was advised to stop wearing it (and move on to more intensive PT). In retrospect, getting a sling that kept my minimally displaced fractured shoulder stable probably made this about the most important to-wear item I have ever bought. Thanks to Amazon for making this sling available and for providing space for all of the reviews for this and other similar products to help with what turned out to be an important decision that had to be made under the less than ideal shopping conditions of pain, trauma and no opportunities for try on rooms and easy comparisons

Comfortable through my recovery
The Velpeau Arm Sling Shoulder Immobilizer comes across as a practical recovery aid for shoulder and arm injuries. Its main strengths are the lightweight feel, breathable construction, and the way it keeps the arm close to the body for more stable support. One of the biggest positives is comfort. Other reviews and product descriptions consistently mention soft padding, ventilation, and reduced pressure on the neck and shoulder, which matters if you have to wear a sling for long periods or even while sleeping. The T-belt style also helps prevent the arm from swinging, so it feels more secure than a basic sling. It also seems easy to adjust for different body types and both left and right arms, which adds to its usefulness during recovery. Customers note that it can stay in place well overnight, and that is a big deal when rest and immobilization are part of the healing process. The main drawback is that, like most immobilizers, it is not especially stylish or low-profile under clothing. It is built for function first, so fit and comfort will matter more than appearance. Still, if you need a supportive sling for a sprain, dislocation, rotator cuff recovery, or post-op use, this looks like a strong, comfort-focused option.

I recommend this sling for its wearing comfort
I purchased the Velpeau Medical Arm Sling to replace the sling I received at the ER when I broke my left humorous (six inches below the shoulder joint). The ER provided sling was just adequate to support the arm in its fixed, bent at the elbow, position with its ridged posterior long-arm splint. When my orthopedic surgeon recommended letting the arm heal without surgery he gave me an order to take to an orthotics provider where they removed the long-arm splint and put me in a Sarmiento Brace still using the ER provided arm sling. The ER provided sling was a one-size-fits-all with a thin strap from back of the sling to the wrist end worn over the right shoulder with a foam padding patch to slide along the strap and position it where the strap crosses the shoulder for comfort padding. The Velpeau Medical Arm Sling is sooo much more comfortable to wear!! It comes configured for a right arm sling and we had some trouble re-configuring it for the left arm even watching the video over and over. The problem we had with the video was the performer moving too fast at the critical step of disconnecting the "green side showing" wrist attachment point and reversing it to "orange side showing." I found that I can put it on without assistance (once it was initially adjusted with assistance) by holding it by the elbow end and position it to slide my dangling left wrist into and through the sling guiding my elbow inside the sling, then duck my head and slide the shoulder strap over my head to rest on my right shoulder. I then grab the wrist end of the sling and pull it to my hand while raising my hand with the sling until My arm is in the 90 degree plus position with my wrist higher then my elbow. Ending by reaching back with my right hand to grab the cross-body strap and stick it to the sling to hold the wrist against my chest. The only strap I cannot fasten/unfasten is the small strap near the elbow used to close the elbow end of the sling. As received configured for the right arm, this strap would extend from the inside surface (outside of the sling next to the body) over the forearm to attach to the outside of the sling using your left the hand. All the above is from my experience as I/we have not read the tiny included instruction sheet. My usual procedure of scanning the instruction manual with a flat-bed scanner and assembling a zoom-able PDF was not attempted due to working with one arm.

Ok sling. Straps scratch shoulders & neck.
PROS / CONS โข The sling is lightweight & held my shoulder & arm following rotator cuff surgery. However, I continually wished that I had purchased a sling that was more comfortable. โข The straps were very stiff and scratched and dug into my my shoulder. โข The sling is adjustable. However, it was difficult to adjust after you have it on, which is when you know it needs adjusting. โข The velcro was durable, but it scratched, too, because it was on the stiff straps. โข Is it a good value? I suppose it was regarding money spent. โข Buy it if you need it for very short-term wear. Just be ready to put towels under the straps or wear thick clothing where the straps touch your skin.

Comfortable, stabilizing, completely adjustable!!!
I am 1 month post op... full rotator tear/shoulder reconstruction surgery. No one told me I needed a sling with an abduction pillow. The hospital gave me the cheapest sling that was way to big on me!! So I ordered this. I don't regret it one bit... other than not having the pillow to keep my arm away from my body so it healed properly...I fixed that by putting a towel under my arm. Anyway, it arrived quickly and I was not disappointed. Using the measurement guid....I am 5' 4" and 120 lbs. I was in-between sizes. So I went with the medium. It fit great!! It covered my hand a little bit more. Which was perfect for me... so I wouldn't use it!! It is VERY comfortable and soft. Very easy to adjust the perfect fit. Literally every adjustment is velcro, right down to the thumb holder. And not the cheap kind. Did I have to cut the back strap to fit? Yes... one cut, reattach velcro and that was it. After 4 weeks it has held up great. Still as comfortable and functional as the day I started using it. And it has been put one and off a lot (showers, therapy, just sitting and icing). 2 weeks left to go. Definitely keeps the arm stable. Even after I don't need it anymore, I will still probably wear it when I go to bed for that added security.

Secure, Comfortable, and Supportive - Excellent Support Without Feeling Bulky
This sling was perfect for me after my rotator cuff surgery. I bought it as a second sling to wear when I went on walks, and it worked wonderfully. The wraparound strap design kept my arm snug against my body, secure, and well supported while I was walking. It took me a little time to figure out how to put it on correctly, but once I got the hang of it, I loved it. It was comfortable, kept everything stable, and gave me much more confidence when I was out walking. Overall, this was an excellent second sling during my recovery, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for extra support after shoulder surgery.

Decent
Slightly complicated to put on at first. Not sure how easy this would be to apply by the injured person. But my son says it is comfortable and feels significantly more secure than the slings the hospitals give.

Untrustworthy reseller.
The seller advertised about velpeau sling, which according to him would support my shoulder my shoulder injury, but sent me a totally different caretex brand arm sling which was of cheap quality and did not serve the purpose. For this I waited for one week, but Thank you Amazon, you understood my plight and agreed to refund the amount and I sent it back to the reseller. Don't trust the reseller.
