Excellent sling
Well I am no expert on slings, but I suffered a broken shoulder two weeks ago and I have learned a few things since. I was discharged from the ER with a sling. The nurse candidly noted that it was not a very good one and I could buy a better one. So when I got home I started my Amazon research. I read reviews and this one stood out, primarily because it did not dig into the neck. The one I got from the ER was instantly annoying my neck. I was hesitant to buy it because some reviews noted that it was complicated to put on and that you would need assistance, and I am 74 years old. But other reviews included some very helpful videos so I thought I could manage it myself. I was not going to get help from home with this due to my husbandโs own health issues. So, first, I got it the very next day. Fantastic! Within about 24 hours of getting home from the ER with the crappy sling I had my new sling. Thanks to the helpful videos, I was able to put it on myself without any big problem. It was instantly more comfortable than the ER sling. It is padded and soothing. The cradle portion for the elbow extends far up the arm and has a warming and swaddling effect. The one from the ER (and a mesh I bought for showering but did not like ) felt like they cut into the back of my upper arm (as well as my neck) This sling has an extra strap that hangs down your back when you put the primary (nicely padded) strap over your shoulder. If you make sure not to get it tangled, you reach back with your good arm and grab it and wrap it around your waist/rib area in front and attach it to the sling with the Velcro tip. It holds your arm against your body which aids with immobilization and also has a swaddling effect. I loosen it for sleep. It has been two weeks now and Iโm so glad I got this. My last x ray showed no movement of the fracture so itโs doing its primary job of immobilizing the bone so it can heal. There is a small strap that goes over your arm near the elbow that keeps it cradled and an adjustable wrist strap that raises or lowers your hand to a position where you are comfortable. Pulling down in the back strap before you fasten it also affects how high your wrist sits against your body The Velcro closures on the straps can be a bit of a nuisance and attach to stuff where you donโt want them to attach but itโs pretty easy to get the hang of sticking them to a part of the sling so that they are out if your way til you are ready to fasten them where you want them. All in all Iโm so pleased with this sling. Iโm enduring my first broken bone and I think this sling has made a difficult situation a bit more livable. Update from newest X Ray on June 3. No movement of the fracture. So the sling is definitely doing its job. Update as of six weeks from injury: My latest X ray showed no movement of the fracture so this sling did its job and I was advised to stop wearing it (and move on to more intensive PT). In retrospect, getting a sling that kept my minimally displaced fractured shoulder stable probably made this about the most important to-wear item I have ever bought. Thanks to Amazon for making this sling available and for providing space for all of the reviews for this and other similar products to help with what turned out to be an important decision that had to be made under the less than ideal shopping conditions of pain, trauma and no opportunities for try on rooms and easy comparisons

My shoulder feels a lot better.
Torn rotator cuff. Shoulder immobilization per Drโs orders. This brace is very comfortable, easy to put on, very supportive, holds my arm to my side very well, no fighting with any straps, easy to adjust to size, it stays exactly where itโs supposed to, and I love that. The straps do not pull on my neck at all. They are anchored around my waist and over my shoulder, not adding any pressure to my neck.

Excellent sling.
I ordered this sling, after putting up with my other sling for 3 days after surgery. The Velpeau sling is comfortable, cozy, and supportive. I just had complete reverse shoulder replacement, and this sling makes a huge difference. I can rest my arm fully. The neoprene fabric sleeve has some grip, so it doesn't slide around. I could go on and on, but suffice to say, THIS is the sling that does it for me.

Intuitive to put on without reading instructions
If you need to wear a sling. this one is intuitive how to use as well as comfortable. A broken wrist required me to use a sling, and I needed a sling that was easy to put on, is comfortable around my neck and shoulders. and securely holds my wrist and arm in place. No video required to use it, just as it should be. Yes, the Velcro is strong & may attach to something unintended, that's what Velcro does. Don't wear polyester shirts with this or any sling with Velcro. I have used this for just 5 days so I can't comment on durability. The sling could be perfect if it had cotton for breathability. I am 5'7", 140 pnds and I ordered the large as several reviews said this runs small. The large is a good size in this sling. I usually wear a med. size in blouses or shirts.

Supportive and comfortable arm sling!
Nice supportive and comfortable arm sling! I originally bought it based on reviews and Iโm glad I got it. I originally thought it wasnโt heavy duty enough and bought a different brand of sling with an easier clip attachment but it turned out to be not as nice as the Velpeau Arm Sling. The sling holds your arm closely tucked to your body which is what you want. It also has a strap for your thumb which is more comfortable than just a loop that can get uncomfortable. I fractured my clavicle and needed to keep my arm/shoulder immobilized and this sling does it. I highly recommend this sling!

Prepare to spend a lot of time figuring this out!
This product came very nicely packaged and right on time. The product itself was VERY difficult to figure out. There was a white plastic tag marking one strap and it said to remove it and stick it to my wrist. Why? This was the first indicator that things were going to go downhill. And they did. None of the velcro attachments were marked to make it easier for the injured (and in pain) person to figure out how to manipulate the device. My husband and I spent over 15 minutes with it before we realized that some of the attachments were sewn down (permanent) and some were meant to be released. By this time we were very frustrated. After reading other reviews it was clear that this is a high-quality device but one review I read stated that it was smaller than expected. So I bought a large thinking I would need it. If you do buy one, follow the measurements carefully! The large was too big for me (I am 5โ2โ and 138 lbs, my ribcage measures 33.5โ so I was on the very edge of a medium). I should have purchased the medium but heeded the โruns smallโ advice. I will now be returning this item. It was helpful that Amazon provided a video to assist with putting it on but I think it is important to remember that anyone who needs to use a brace/support of any kind may be in pain, elderly, incapacitated, etc. therefore it is important that a device that has multiple adjustment pieces SHOULD BE CLEARLY MARKED AND LABELED. A video can only do so much. This product loses 2 stars for not accommodating the buyer.

Comfort and Joy sling
Much more comfortable than the one I got from my physicianโs office. Lighter weight. Easy to get on and off. Doesnโt have the waist band that is uncomfortable sleeping with. Had a great tripod connection across the back which secures the sling.

Excellent brace, exactly what we needed
Excellent! Replaced the uncomfortable and inefficient brace that was provided for my special needs son after his shoulder surgery. This is MUCH more comfortable and supportive. It is also cooler and stays in place during sleep. In terms of putting it on and taking off: I first remove the strap that goes around his waist and then lift the other straps over his head without any problem. One of the advantages of this is brace is the strap that goes around his waist. It keeps his shoulder from externally rotating, which is very important because of the type of surgery that he had.

Great Immobiliser Sling
It's a great immobiliser sling. Worked well for me after shoulder surgery. Unfortunately it took a longer than promised time to arrive.

Untrustworthy reseller.
The seller advertised about velpeau sling, which according to him would support my shoulder my shoulder injury, but sent me a totally different caretex brand arm sling which was of cheap quality and did not serve the purpose. For this I waited for one week, but Thank you Amazon, you understood my plight and agreed to refund the amount and I sent it back to the reseller. Don't trust the reseller.

So comfortable
The arm sling so much better than the one the hospital gave me. It is very adjustable and sits very securely. It has made a difference to the pressure spots on my arm from my previous sling.
