Q: Could someone please tell me how these are different to the original ones?

Not that different! Use the flexible couplings which look all one colour.

Q: maybe not quite getting this,But there’s nothing stopping the Z rod from lifting out at the red section.?I don’t get it?

They are in 2x halves with the plastic as a spacer, so basically you can push them on and pull apart once attached. The plastic provides a dampner for noise and shock. Hope that helps
