Describing Skills for Kids with Autism & Asperger's (Six-Minute Thinking Skills)

A bit pricey but worth it for individuals on the spectrum (Autism).
As someone on the spectrum with autism, I thought it was perfect for my needs and I wouldn’t hesitate if you are a buyer since I am recommending it. It’s a tad bit pricey for a book with developing some basic skills. However, I think I got my money’s worth. I was doubtful since my description skills were atrocious. I think buying it because it has all that you need to know about describing(you can apply the information). It’s the best book on how to describe what I have purchased to date. The books I buy on description are for describing places and objects in stories. I also purchased a different book on description. But I can’t compare it to that one since it’s arriving in the mailing service much later. However, this book surprised me and I think it easily earns 5 stars. Some books I have bought are the descriptasaurus. this book will teach you to be independent when writing descriptions. I am also of an ESL background.

Excellent Speech Exercises - Using with our twins in speech and ABA sessions
Mom of autistic 8 year old twins here- always on the lookout for tools that I can use to help my lil dudes build communication skills... These books are ready to go resources that thoughtfully can be expanded upon for learners trying to communicate from different developmental levels. Looking forward to the following directions and reading comprehension books... both are on order! Love to see more books of this type from this author... thanks!

Improved describing for my students
Great book to work on describing skills with students. I use it with any students who have issues with describing, not just students with autism.

NOT a professionally produced standard sized workbook
This is small book/guide for helping kids with their language skills but is not a full size workbook as described. It does have some helpful lists/topics for practice, but is not enough to use on its own. I'm keeping it to use as a supplement to the Lindamood Bell Talkies and Visualizing and Verbalizing programs. No author information provided, so not sure how trustworthy this is as a resource.

Good material
Good material to use with children with disabilities but programs need to be tailored to individual needs.

Very beneficial to my students
I’ve started using this book with my students that are on the spectrum as well as some that have intellectual delays. I knew my students had the vocabulary required for this book, but I had no idea how difficult retrieval and organization of the information was for them. This book is helping to build retrieval and organization skills. The coaching tips at the beginning are a must to follow. I’d suggest keeping notes and then after the book is finished, revisit some lessons to see the growth that has occurred.
