An exciting adventure story set in the Swiss Alps. Ann is thrilled to be invited to stay with an old friend of her mother’s who has a daughter, Leli, about her own age. Leli is very shy and although she likes Ann, she isn’t keen on the other children Ann makes friends who are staying in their Apline village. This leads to some tension, but gradually Leli comes out of her shell (bravery with a herd of cows helps). There are very vivid descriptions of the places the children visit, and some thrilling adventures along the way. A great holiday story.
