This is a beautiful book with lavish illustrations and the classic DK layout. It's inspiring to see people's "journals and diaries" through the ages, from Egyptian, to Magellan's voyage, to Anne Frank... so many poignant, funny, personal things A lovely companion and contrast to the Bullet Journal craze. So many ways to document one's life... I loved this book. A great gift, too.

I recently bought this books as a Christmas gift for my partner. Fantastic reads filled with inticing information about every extraordinary person.

I treated myself to this book. I'm so glad I found it. It is truly beautiful to look at and full of interesting information. The writing is factual and pictures are gloriously abundant. Well up to the standard you expect from DK.

Lovers of DK books will be happy with this and it is up to their usual high production standards. However, for something that relies on readability of the main illustrations, there are just too many that (due to size or resolution) cannot be read. Some selected enlargements have been provided, though not enough. A useful linked commentary is provided but ultimately the book is (for me) a disappointment and after some thought was returned.

Wohl eines der schönsten, informativsten und liebevoll gestalteten Bücher. Großformatig und reichhaltig bebildert. In einer Zeitreise vom alten Ägypten bis hin zur Neuzeit bekommt man einen Überblick über beeindruckende Denker*innen verschiedener Epochen. Viele englische Begriffe gelernt, die eher weniger geläufig sind, aber wunderbar klingen. Absolute Empfehlung meinerseits!

Great introduction to the diaries of famous personalities. Beautifully written with gorgeous photographs. Big, sumptuous coffee table book. As this is an overview, the entries are obviously not detailed. We can further explore the diaries by doing our own research.

Great book. Great easy read and great pictures.

This is a great book, well presented, interesting and informative. It presents the history of diary keeping and introduces the reader to a range of people across all continents and times.
