A Shameful Rip-off
I'd written a better review previously but in afterthought I'm lowering it considerably.This book is produced by a public university, so making money should not be its top priority –instead, giving the public access to quality information should be its priority. That's NOT what's happening with these books. What should be a one volume English translation at a reasonable cost has been spread out to twelve volumes costing almost $500 total for the set by including the original Nahuatl text, which is of interest to only a tiny number of potential purchasers. The books also include some of the original illustrations but they're so shrunk in size they're of little use other than to fill space.It's unjustified and, speaking as a college professor, shameful.A major flaw in the writing, by the way, is that the translators inexplicably write in archaic King Jame's English, with phrases like "Art thou perchance Moctezuma?" and "Go thou hence".

Wonderful book on the Mexican Conquest
This is the last book of the Florentine Codex series, very informative. Written in both English and Aztec. Great for a student of Mesoamerican culture.

Oustanding English translation of Sahagun's work. Highly recommended.

Clash of civilizations, vividly related by witnesses.
A gripping account of the cosmic upheaval unleashed when Europeans encountered the native peoples of what we now call Mexico. The sorrowful defeat of Aztec Tenochtitlán/Tlatelolco is described in vivid eyewitness detail in both Nahuatl and pictographically. The Nahuatl text is accompanied by an English translation. The book is a priceless treasure that reminds us that the history of the Americas began well before 1492.
