"Dear Timothy, Thank you for contacting us. This steamer tray, lid and water window of the noted appliance (model 37530A, Digital Food Steamer) contains polycarbonate, which contains BPA as an ingredient. We require the plastics used in the manufacture of our products comply with and are tested per FDA guidelines to ensure they are safe. " FDA guidelines aside, it DOES CONTAIN BPA. **Q: What is the difference between this and earlier versio?** A: I contacted the company to determine if this has BPA in it and they said this:"We are pleased to inform you that all plastics used in model 37530Z are BPA free in all food zones. The tray in model 37537 is manufactured from polycarbonate and contains BPA. This is our only appliance that has BPA in a food zone. "I wrote back today (3/2/15) and asked them if they include the water heating area as a food zone or not. I hope so!They replied today (3/4/15): The water tray is considered a food zone. It's great, love it. Not sure why so many complaints about water all over, mine so far never a drop beside steamer, and easy fill up with more water if needed, not sure about the complaint that she could not find the fill up?? It's well marked. Great to steam corn with the double high steamer. Easy to clean also, steams everything fast. Only downside have to watch steamer closely as finish "ding" sound very faint barely audible unless your standing right beside it, but it goes onto warm mode so at least food does not cool off if you check past done.
