Marineland Black Diamond Premium Activated Carbon Filter Media, 40 oz

After years of using prepackaged charcoal bags for my aquarium I decided to try bulk charcoal and mesh bags to package my own. Works great and is much cheaper. Wish I had done this sooner.

I stopped using carbon for a while had issues with algea and nitrates. I put this in and BAM tank cleared up and algea seemed to get under control. Great stuff. A must for any aquarium

Decent amount of carbon for the price, way cheaper than filter pre-built bags with sprinkles of carbon in them. Very easy to use just dumping into a mesh bag fitting whatever needs you have and functioning the way you need it to be. Isn't dirty and just needs a simple rinse to get activated and wash off some dust

I use this in my cat's litterbox to help with smell. I don't remember where I heard this tip, but it was worked really well for me. Of course, you have to be careful not to get the black dust everywhere, but that's just the nature of the product. It works well for what I need it to do!

Quality is great both water cleanliness and quality is good with this product. Overall performance with ammonia level and health of the tank is great with this product.

My aquariums have never been cleaner

I'd been buying this type of charcoal at the pet store, but it's only available in 8-oz containers there. I was happy to find this on Amazon, in larger containers because I use a lot over a period of time. Of course this is used in aquarium filters, but it also works anywhere you need deodorizing. Here, that's trash cans. When it wasn't cost-prohibitive, I used to use ground coffee. That makes a great deodorizer and I'd always be on the lookout for the cheapest brand, usually a store's house brand on sale. Now, even that's expensive, so I'm back to the charcoal. These are pellets. That, or granules, are what I want for how I use them because it's not as messy to use as powder. And a handful in a trash can does wonders. Same with outdoor trash cans or totes. Ours are in the garage, and you can be sure I'll be buying more of this for the summer months lol. It's also good to sprinkle some in the cat's litter pan. Amazon comes through again!

I use this for the storage room that has bunch of shoes, it helps decrease the smell and the stuffiness of the room even with the door closed. I also use it for my diaper pail for my baby and helps lock the smell in for days. Good quality and good amount for the price

Works very well. Was very effective at almost completely removing the garbage smell from my garage (we have to keep our garbage bin in the garage). The size of each piece of charcoal is very good (small pebble size), and there's not too much fine powder. What I did was fill a few women's stockings with the charcoal (about 6 inches in length), tie up the end, and then let it sit in the garage. Four such stockings worth was enough to do the trick... perhaps less would have also sufficed. If I wanted to make them even more effective, I could hang them on the inside of the garbage bin (by sticking a hook to the inside wall, for example). To fill those 4 stockings, I used about 2/3 of the container. I was expecting it to last longer, but I guess it's not too bad, since hopefully those 4 stockings will be effective for quite a while.
