Like eating your favorite chocolate cake
I have read both the other San Anderas Shifter books, and loved them, and this book is much the same. If you like the last two books, and want more like those books, you get exactly that in this book. You have to have read the last few books to properly enjoy this one. As the heading says, for me this book is like going to my favorite bakery, and ordering their best choclate cake – getting something I love, that I know is great, and just having a great time enjoying it!There is explicit gay sex in this book – usually not something I look for in a book, but not something I mind either. A Gail Carriger book IS my cup of tea, really my favorite kind, and this reads much more like a Carriger story than a gay romance story to me. With all the wonderful snark, all the loyal and kind characters and the awesome worldbuilding I have come to expect for her books. The sex scenes feel as a natural part of the book, and not something just put in there to draw readers. This book is about Collin and Jud, two werewolfs in the San Andreas pack, situated in San Francisco, in Gails alternate universe, but set in modern time. Collin is lonely, and feels like he does not fit in, and in this book his character grows a lot. As a reader we get to know more about how he things, and about his place in the San Andreas pack. The plot is not that complicated, or intricate, but the story is interesting. There is a small mystery, in addition to Collins love story, that is the main theme in this gay romance book. I did not want to put the book away, and I think it is a sweet romance story, that I really want to finish, and really enjoy reading about! I really connect with the characters, and want to find out about the silly country werewolf country singer, and what kind of awesome shifter drinks are being sold in the local coffee shop. It’s a light, fun, sweet read, just as I hoped and have come to crave and expect of a Gail Carriger book. Just keep them coming!I love the tone of Gail Carrigers books, how her characters are snarky, funny, compassionate, and how she shows that all the different personalities in the pack have their place, and is loved and cherished for who they are. Reading a San Andreas book is like visiting beloved friends for me! Please, please, writer more of these books! 😊I would recommend this book to anyone who have read the other books in the San Andreas Shifters series, and liked those books- this book is more of the same.I would recommend that series to anyone who like a light, romantic, fun read. I cant wait for the next book about the Pack, and the only thing I am sad about is that the book is over. All I can do is wait for the audible version, and listen to that while I walk the local woodlands, or walk down our local pier eating doughnuts and drinking iced tea 😊

Fabulous story!
I'm really glad the character Colin finally learned to stop degrading himself because of true love as well as pack love. It gives hope to those of us with self-loathing issues that we might overcome our perceived shortcomings, too! I like the love conquers all aspect to this story.

All the good feels...
I am biased by a love for all things written by Gail Carriger, but this book was just so many things. You should absolutely read the other novels first before diving in to this one, the story building and character references will be lost without the other novels as a foundation. Spoilers ahead - Judd and Colin have made appearances in the previous San Andreas Shifter novels and they played important roles in the stories that have come before, but it was so nice to see them take the spotlight. Colin was damaged by parental neglect from his father and a narcissistic personality in his mother, and so he has learned to make himself small. Watching him try so hard to be invisible hurt my heart and so this book brought me joy. Colin didn't change overnight, it was not miraculous in the sense of a sudden change. Instead, it was like Colin was a flower and Judd provided the sunlight to help Colin grow taller and stronger. I relate to Colin, and the environment that causes such suppressive behaviors to take hold. Undoing the damage is a process and I love Ms. Carriger for representing that process so well in the book. I am also forever grateful for her thoughtful application of the situation in a fictional setting. In the end, Judd doesn't fix Colin, he supports and loves Colin and encourages him to choose his own path with reassurances that he will love him wherever that path leads. In the same instance, Colin helped Judd feel like he belonged and that he was both wanted and needed. The writing was outstanding, as usual, and the reference to Phineas made me smile (Finishing School!). Another resounding success from Ms. Carriger!

His Wolf Didn't Get Shot but his Mom dun Left Him
Sorry, but I had to title my review with a Country Cliche. After all, it turns out in this book that Kevin and Colin's mom who abandoned them youngsters, is now a famous country singer Lexi Blanc, and she's hired the San Andreas pack company Heavy lifting as her security for her SF tour, putting Kevin into the contract.Judd is horrified he's signed the contract that will bring Colin pain, especially as Judd adores him.Kevin, Colin's older brother is worried about how quiet and scared of touching he is, so to ensure he has his feelings protected but learns to love, asks Judd to teach Colin what he needs to know and help him find his confidence. But Colin overhears and decides to ask Judd himself. The pack also adopt a delightful dratsie shifter, Trick, who works at Colin's fave coffee shop but is being threatened by selkies.Trick is a great character, full of sparkly brightness, sparkly wit and strong sarcasm, but in need of love and friends. I'm happy he gets the focus in the next book with Ketil, the big but sweet bear shifter.I also love Mr Floyd, the old human who's joined the fun and would love to see Kev find himself smitten.Whilst we're on it, and other characters, Marvin is wonderful. I'd like a detective mystery novella with the sea shifters, Trick, Marvin and maybe a blubbering bozo. The whole series is growing to be a wonderful LGBTQ friendly series, with diversity, romance, mystery and sexy moments too, that are just the right level. But yes, Marvin is particularly awesome, though the addition of Trick is great.

The series keeps getting better!
This is the third (well, technically third and a half) book in the San Andreas Shifters series and it’s going strong. This book features a new couple but both are member of the pack who were introduced in the previous books.I love the world building in this series, particular the alternate reality vibe and the way the author has twisted aspects of real life (Panda rights, in particular). Like the books that precede it, this one deals with some quite heavy emotional issues, in a way that makes you feel for the characters the whole way through. It also has some good old fashioned steam as well as some hilarious moments. And GL Carriger doesn’t half have the gift of making us loathe a character! I am looking at you, lexi blanc!!If you’re looking for a great paranormal MM romance series with great humour and some really creative tales on supernatural species, this is for you. Go start from the beginning!

When can I get the next one?!!!
This series just gets better and better! I am a voracious reader but I have re-read the three books and prequel novella in this series more than any other. I even have the ones available in audio as well as ebook so I can get my fix any time. The characters are funny, sweet, grumpy, charming and everything in between. There is angst but it's never too overwhelming and the snark and humour makes me snort every time. Plus the sex is hot!!! I have just this second finished this book (it was only released yesterday) and I already want to start hassling G.L Carrier for the next one. I have been anticipating Judd and Colin's story for months and I wasn't even a little bit disappointed. It lived up to my super high expectations. Would highly recommend

Beautiful and heartwarming
Gail Carriger (aka G. L. Carriger) is my favourite author, and I will read anything she has written. I have high expectations, and she exceeds them every time. This book was wonderful, just like all the others in this series. It was both hilarious and touching. It had a beautiful, heartwarming plot. As usual, the use of language is wonderful, and often playful, in a way that reminds me of P. G. Wodehouse (though the plot is obviously not alike). I really can’t recommend this series (and Gail Carriger in general) enough.

The little wolf with the big ...... story
I wasn't sure what to expect with this book but I loved every bit of the story. While this book is meant to be about Judd, its really about Colin. We not only got to know about Colin, the quietest character in the series but also more about his brother and the rest of the pack and what they are up to. It brings in new characters big and small, while giving us updates on the rest of the pack and guest characters. We even get some snippets about older characters in the parasol-verse. A great read, that's entertaining with never a dull moment. Now we just need a book all about the pack house and its remodel. This is a series that could go on forever and id read every single story.
