Q: What is the chest size for medium and the chest size for large?

I'm a 32in chest and usually get a medium in a football shirt, its a fairly loose fit. I would say a large starts around 34in .

Q: I’m 5ft 9 about 182 lbs what size do you think I need would a large be right size and a bit loose

I bought size M for my 15 yrs old son. He is about your height, and similar weight, maybe a bit less and fits just perfect, not too tight. L was too big for him. If you always buy size L from other shops, size is similar.
