If you like Mystery, and Solving Puzzles this game is for you!
I would like to give a plug for Escape Room The Game! What an awesome, fun Escape Room Experience. My husband and I met up with several friends earlier this year, paid a lot of money and went to a real Escape Room. We were able to solve all the puzzles and Escape and we had a fun time doing it. So for my birthday I wanted to try another Escape Room so I bought "Escape Room The Game" on Amazon, and we gave it a try here at home. We tried the Demo "Basement" and then we played "Prison Break". My husband and I did not escape the Basement on time, but with the help of a friend we did Escape Prison with 30 seconds left on the clock. This was so much fun, and we have 3 more games we can play! If you want a fun family friendly activity that will get you thinking and solving puzzles, then this is the activity for you!Just a note, you really need at least 3 players. We tried Virus and Murder Mystery with just my husband and I and spent 2 1/2 hours working on it. Get one more player (at least) and you'll escape much easier!

Pretty fun. A couple issues but still worth iy
I was worried since people said they key reader doesn't work but it did work. We've done 2/4 and so far you don't really need to destroy stuff go solve it. They also provide a website to reprint stuff but I haven't used it. So nice to be able to do this as a family without paying $50+ a person for a real room and you can even pass it on to another family after

Buggy Decoder Fix! And our spoiler free experience as of Dec 2022.
The media could not be loaded. Spoiler free! -- So I had read a LOT of the reviews about the problems with the decoder, but I decided to go for it because most of the more recent reviews seemed like they didn't have this problem. We did have some issues out of the box, but now I know the way to avoid them so you can enjoy things more than we did. That solution is below. Otherwise, I will say that these are very fun, but quite HARD. I have done many EXIT games and real escape rooms and we had to use almost all the clues. It might be because my mother and I were both under the weather and not sleeping well, but there were a few times I was left wondering 'how was I supposed to make that leap of logic'? However, I will say that the clues were largely great and got us back on track. Only once or twice did I go to the walkthrough to figure out the logic of what were were supposed to be doing. Our set had the mirror packaged in one of the other bags that wasn't immediately obvious for the intro Basement game, so look in the other bags for it.In one game it told us we needed the string when we didn't and that REALLY threw us off wasting time on it because we thought we were missing something obvious.Overall I did greatly enjoy the addition of the keys and the decoder box. Ours had some issues that we have since solved and despite it we were able to use the clues and the walkthroughs on the website to keep things moving.** Buggy Decoder Solution ** -- Sometimes when we put codes in it would give the error beep and dock us time. After this happening a few times and us losing, we would check against the walkthrough and I realized that we were *right* on some of them, and it was the decoder that was wrong. This was extremely frustrating. I wanted to pass the game on to friends to share and also get the expansion packs, but I needed to know the problems wouldn't persist. I opened up the box to check for loose wiring and everything looked tight and secure. Then I noticed the actual mechanics of the key cards. Each key has three circuits when you press the key in, based on the shape of that key. So basically you push it in and three little metal tabs either get pushed up or left down based on the key. So if it is the key with only one prong in the middle, only the middle tab is pushed up (which breaks the circuit and tells the chip what was done yadda yadda). The C/D parallelogram key specifically will sometimes *incorrectly* break all three circuits if pushed in slightly crooked. This will cause it to think it is wrong and buzz you. If you push the key in very straight down this seems to avoid that problem most of the time. I was able to recreate this 'glitch' repeatedly when testing it.

Tough!
We had 2 teams competing. 1 succeeded. Definitely great for team building.

Good for 2 people, 3 people max.
The games are fun and challenging and the puzzles are clever. However, the pictures are small as it is the decoder and really only 1 person can be using the decoder or really examining the picture at a time. It makes it hard to do with a group. It's nice to have at least two people, so they can share brainpower, but any more three people are too crowded. Some people will be excluded from working on the puzzles or figuring anything out.

Escape room at home
Escape Room The Game is honestly one of the most thrilling board games I've ever played! The puzzles are challenging yet fair, here's plenty of content to keep you and your friends entertained for hours. Whether you're a seasoned escape room veteran or a newcomer to the genre, this game is a must-have for any game night.
