Orgain Organic Vegan 30g High Protein Powder, Vanilla, 2.01 lb

Orgain is by far the tastiest protein powder that I have found! If you hate the aftertaste and weird lumps of a traditional whey protein (I can’t stand lumpy protein shakes) then this is the one you want to buy. I first purchased this at a physical store but when I went back to that store, they were out of stock so I searched for it on Amazon. It does have a bit of a strange texture and it’s hard to explain but it is definitely not bad - it almost reminds me of a melted milkshake. Comparative to whey, this vegan protein powder is very fine and it mixes really smoothly into your drink of choice. No lumps to be found! It’s super versatile and easy to add other ingredients to make whatever suits your fancy but I prefer to add mine to milk or water.

It wasn't until I was attempting to put some weight on my kid that I realized he has a whey intolerance that leads to bouts of Eosinophilic Esophagitis (EOE). It literally sends his eosinophils into some sort of crash out, making his saliva so thick it looks like a web made out of thin, clear taffy or whatever... it's awful how it will choke him and gag him. Thankfully his EoE isn't an issue for him unless he's had a lot (I mean A LOTTA LOT) of dairy. But add one scoop of whey protein powder and his EoE full throttle flares up. Switched to this and it's not only taken care of the issue, it told me it isn't necessarily the dairy or lactose so much as whatever differentiates whey from the rest of dairy. (In other words, thousands of dollars in tests and a multitude of specialists appointments). I like that it's made from plants - that just 'feels' like it's a healthier option and would be gentler to his body. It doesn't taste any better or any worse than even the most expensive protein powders, and when blended with a proper blender, tastes about as 'good' as FairLife ready to drink shakes - which is the one everyone raves about but is LOADED with cholesterol-filled milk. This does have more Carbs than the whey protein but he's presently 20+ pounds underweight and never snacks... I'm not sweating the carbs at this time.

So I intermittently use this product not because it is much wrong with it, the flavor is good for the most part, its very clean ingredients, and considering having plant proteins more often than the animal is such a benefit. This may be my own opinion but I don't like the texture and flavor and I can't tell if it's the pea protein or if my protein isn't blending well with just water or almond milk because I get this gritty taste, but when I do drink it it's not intolerable, in fact, I still drink it, I just maybe make a face when I try to chug it lol. Otherwise, it's pretty good nonetheless. $35 isn't bad for the price either, the serving size is two scoops for those that may wonder.

I drink protein shakes three times a day and eat a mostly vegan diet, so I go through a lot of protein powder. I mix one scoop of Orgain with two scoops of Naked Pea protein isolate and 10 oz of unsweetened almond milk. The vanilla flavor is very good and makes the unflavored pea protein much more enjoyable. It’s become a staple of my daily protein intake.

I was very excited to try this protein powder because the ingredients looked much cleaner than many other options I have seen, and I really appreciate that it provides 30 grams of plant protein per serving. The flavor and texture worked well for me, and I truly enjoyed having it as part of my routine. It blended nicely and made it easy to increase my protein intake without feeling overly heavy. My husband unfortunately did not do well with it. He tried it on two separate occasions, and the outcome was the same each time, so clearly it just was not a good fit for him personally. I definitely sympathized with him, but on the bright side, that meant I ended up keeping the entire container to myself — and I happily did because I really enjoyed it. Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase and would buy it again for myself.

I usually use Vanilla Vega. Ran out, could get this the next day. What a mistake. It tastes horrendous. I am drinking it while writing this, and I can’t place the flavor, it’s unique. It is definitely not vanilla, or good. Maybe rotten husks of vanilla beans. Either way, it’s so bad.

We have consumed more Orgain than most other proteins, and love the flavor and texture. Best quality we have found. I tried another brand off of Amazon, and it was gritty and had an unpleasant aftertaste. NEVER with Orgain, all ways good, filling, and never GI problems.
