I’ve used bandanas and home made ones and anti-puffiness ones and the kind of “beauty sleep” masks you can get at the drug store but they tend to have a whole host of various problems (slides off, elastic wears out fast, doesn’t block all light, rubs the eyelid/lifts the eyelid leaving a sore dry eye in the morning sometimes...) I saw an ad for manta and thought the price tag was too high for a trial so I came here looking for a cheaper alternative to see if it might be worth switching to a mask with padded “holes”. I haven’t been using this product more than a couple months and it shows considerable... warping is probably the best word, but it still works great and I can comfortably open my eyes when wearing it and it’s a total blackout and I’m not scraping my eyes on fabric or anything. I even had one instance where I was awoken suddenly and forgot I had the mask on and I thought the power went out as there were NO lights on anywhere til I realized it was the mask! I figured with the condition that the front plastic and foam were in maybe it was time to “upgrade” to an actual manta. Got that in the mail today (pictured alongside my used mindfold for comparison) and getting that has greatly increased my feelings about the mindfold mask. The foam changed shape and there are noticible dimples on the plastic but the eye hole size is perfect (much larger than the manta) and it delivers its promise of not hitting the eye (which after adjusting my “fully customizable” manta I can say that at least for me, I can’t get it to not hit my eyelids and opening my eyes when wearing it is not comfortable AT ALL) Will absolutely be continuing to purchase this product from now on when I need a new mask! Personally have not run into issues with noticing the plastic front piece hitting my cheeks or anything, and even with the weird stretching of the foam it still blocks all light.
