The Proudest Blue: A Story of Hijab and Family Paperback – 7 May 2020

Bought to read to my class (9year olds) to celebrate diversity. A simple but powerful story with beautiful descriptions and illustrations. Created lots of interesting discussions. Quality of book great too.

Very educational

We are a family of no faith but our son is obsessed with learning about different religions and cultures. This book is beautifully written with love and pride and made my son fall in love with the love in the family and just how special it is. I found myself reading the back pages and having to hold back tears. It really is beautiful. My recommendation. Pop it on the shelf long before it’s time to read. We have so many bill shelves and we then have a ledge by our child’s bed. This has been a firm fixture for months now. Never underestimate just how special these books are to children and how much they help see the world with so much more love and warmth.

A good read aloud book for kids.

Brilliant book about acceptance and cultural differences. Brought for my 7 year old daughter to help highlight different people & cultures. It’s also a beautiful little story told through the eyes of the little sister watching her big sister wear her hijab for the first time at school & the questions & negativities that were raised from it. My daughter enjoyed reading it & decided she wanted to show to her nan & read with her. This books a good find.

Bought this for a Muslim family

My daughter and even my boys loved me reading it for them we even got it as Eid gifts to some of our family members!

I love everything about this book, my daughter is 7 and I wanted her to understand the hijab/headscarf, she is so young and open minded ... she loves to learn about her religion and culture ( I’m not that educated in my religion and culture so it brilliant for us both) but we make sure she learns through books and this book is so beautifully written which young children can relate to, what is it like being different, how people react to you and more importantly to stand up for what you believe.., lovely book
