Update to my previous 1 star review:After buying both an Arcadia and Crown Umbrella without a promotion, I can give an unbiased review.  Arcadia Outdoors Umbrellas - Maximum Protection Travel Umbrella 42 Inch Canopy Wind Resistant - Auto Open/Close - Lifetime Guarantee  is a superior umbrella. The problem with the  Crown Coast Umbrellas - Compact Black Travel Umbrella | Windproof 60+MPH - Frame Won't Break If Flipped Inside Out - Auto Open/Close Full Size Canopy - 6000 Opens Durable - Lifetime Guarantee  is that its spring is not strong enough to snap the umbrella out when the open button is pressed. The weaker spring of the Crown does not help in the semi-automatic closing. I also liked the fact that the Arcadia had a longer handle than the Crown: 2.60" vs. 2.25" which makes it easier to hold.However, I have a few complaints about the Arcadia. I believe that most people are more concerned about the diameter of the umbrella or (tip to tip distance) which is 37" than the canopy measurement of 42". Even thought this is shown in one of the diagrams, it should also be in the title as 42" canopy 37" diameter as well as in their 35 line text description. I would give Arcadia 5 stars if they make this change in an effort to not mislead potential customers.My last complaint is that Arcadia gave away too many free or highly discounted umbrellas for "unbiased reviews". I had a hard time finding the reviews from customers that did not receive this promotion.Arcadia makes a fine umbrella and I recommend it but they should make the size of their umbrella obvious and limit their promotions.

I have read of the lack of customer service, the failure to honor the warranty and all the durability issues one has with this product. My troubles began with the umbrella no opening to 100% when the button was pushed. I could live with that. Then it did not latch open, and now it doesn't lock in a closed position. I will try to get them to honor the warranty, but I am not holding my breath.

This umbrella is extremely sturdy and it feels very satisfying when it pops out. I got the burgundy one and it is a really lovely color. Although it is a little hard to push in to close at first, it's fine once you get used to it.Update:I've changed my review from 5-stars to 1-star because I registered this umbrella on the Arcadia Outdoors website the day after I bought it, but when this umbrella broke after just a few uses (it will no longer click to stay open) and I messaged Arcadia Outdoors on their website several times in the last month about getting a refund. They have not replied at all. Their claim that "★ 100% SATISFACTION GUARANTEE - Backed by a LIFETIME warranty - just register your product on our website! Your satisfaction is our main priority - Arcadia Outdoors will gladly send a full refund or replacement if you have any issue, NO questions asked!" is completely false and should not be on their Amazon description.

I was perplexed at first by the "easy open/close" button. It opens readily enough, push of the button, and I am surprised at how big it is...lots of coverage, which is great. However, I am more perplexed by the "easy close" thing. It does close when you press the bottom. The umbrella part closes up. I don't know what I was expecting so I kept waiting for the "shaft" to "close" as well, but it didn't. I came to realize that you have to hold the handle with one hand and use the other hand to forcibly (and it DOES take a lot of force) then push from the top of the closed umbrella, and make it go back into itself until you hear a click. You have to be really careful, because it is on a "spring" mechanism, and will keep springing back if you can't get it to lock down. I can't imagine an old lady doing this (with apologies to old ladies everywhere)...or anyone who doesn't have a lot of strength. Maybe people more familiar with this type of umbrella would say this is just normal. Because it is a beautiful color, and very wide, and DOES pop open easily, I still give it five stars. I'm just glad I am no weakling!

This umbrella actually resists water. My Totes umbrella would be soaking wet and dripping after walking the 5 minutes to the train station on a rainy day. This umbrella still feels almost dry!When you press the button to open it, it opens quickly and easily. To close it, you'll have to press the button and then push down on the top of the umbrella to click it into place. I prefer this to pinched fingers from pulling down from inside the umbrella, and since the umbrella is still quite dry, I am not finding it to be a nuisance.I highly recommend this umbrella and will be buying another one soon.

This little demon is a nightmare (slightly overstated but those were my thoughts when it was pouring down rain lat night!). Try closing this in the bright sunshine much less when it's gushing buckets and you're trying to get into your car. Hint....Water. Everywhere. The tension doesn't let up until you've crammed it down into the inner recesses of the handle. Grrrr. I'm going back to $5 umbrellas at the drugstore checkout. :-(

Break after 2 weeks of use. The tip of umbrella broke off. I tried to contact customer service and received no reply. So it is not life time warranty as it state in product description. I suggest you skip this one and find something better for a price.

Packaged very well, with cardboard case for the umbrella. This is strongly-constructed, and I plan to have it for a long time. We had a little fight in the beginning. It retracted to a certain point through the button. In order to open it from there, I had to close it all the way; then the button shot it open in record time. Shows the evolution of the magic open/close button.

I love the burgundy colour! it's great! But I thought the 'coverage' (umbrella open) would be a bit more.Opening the umbrella -- stellar.. just one click of a button and it pops open! Awesome!Getting the umbrella to go back IN - is another matter. The one click does retract! BUT you need to REALLY Cram that thing DOWN with ultimate force to get it to 'lock in place' so it doesn't snap back up. Even my husband who is ten times stronger than I am - had difficulty getting it to 'behave.'It's also very warbly in the handle. It is not a solid -'hold' - the steel bar TO the umbrella is good! But it just doesn't feel very 'solid' over all and wish the coverage was bigger.I am going to keep looking for another umbrella.

These brollies are great value for money. Smooth quick action release button, great colours (I ordered one in grey and in burgundy), heavier than most foldable ones I have had before but feels really sturdy and a quality product. Better than high street brands at twice the price. 42" when fully open that gives generous cover for 2 people.

Very good i love it. Great functionality especially with the up/down switch in the handle. It is a great weight also and very strong, it was a great price and i love it, especially with all the rain lately.

Being in UK for first time and not knowing what umbrella to buy was so hectic. Thankfully after the wind broke one of my cheap ones I ordered this Arcadia Umbrella. Best. Decision. Color is perfect, it fits two people well, and the fact that it opens and closes with one click is so great.

Great umbrella!Living by on the coast, the winds can be quite rough and so far, it has sustained the rain and wind and not folder over once.Very pleased and absolutely love the colour!
