I’m impressed by the design of this product. It has a clever mechanism that uses a ball, similar to a ballpoint pen, to help release sunscreen. It also includes a sponge for distributing the product onto your skin. The concept is really smart, especially if you want to use your own sunscreen.You can somewhat control the amount of sunscreen that comes out. If you press down a little harder, the ball engages with the skin and more sunscreen is released. If you only want to spread what's already on the sponge or skin, less pressure with just the sponge works.After sitting in my pool bag for a week, a lot of the sunscreen settled down into the sponge and cap area. When I opened it again, it spilled and was messy. At that point, it was also harder to apply a thin, even layer on my skin. And I use a thicker sunscreen which I felt was less likely to slip through. I imagine a thinner sunscreen would have more settling at the base.Another thing to note is that the sponge is pretty large and difficult to use on my face. We have been using this for approximately two months and have absolutely loved it … until it fell apart. I was fully prepared to write a raving five-star review at the end of the summer. However, I cannot in good conscience give five stars to a product that has fallen apart so quickly. The sponge applicator has completely detached from the cap, so it no longer functions as intended. This had such great potential, but I am very disappointed in this product’s early demise and will likely purchase another brand next season.

My kids love this and I love that they can use it to apply sunscreen to themselves without it going all over the place. Once you roll the sunscreen on, you do have to rub it in with your hands to evenly coat it. The sponge is nice! I love that it's easy to put the cap on and just throw it in the car so you always have a handy tool with sunscreen wherever you go!

This is a great add to the pool bag! I love that I can add any sunscreen that I want to it! It goes on easy and rubs in as you roll. I will say that it doesn’t fully rub in though. So I still find myself using my hands a little bit but it does a bulk of the work and the kids have not complained at all when they used to fuss at getting their face sunscreen on. The ball does get stuck sometimes but I just use my hand to release it without getting a ton of sunscreen on my hand. Easy to throw in the bag. My older kids like to do it themselves. Reapplying is so easy. I will say I’ve only used it at the pool so have not dealt with sand yet so cannot speak to beach use or reapplication after sand.
