David Parmenter has updated his "Key Performance Indicators: Developing, Implementing, and Using Winning KPIs" book with a lot of new and valuable information. It is a resource that everyone concerned with performance measurement should have. This list of KPIs alone is worth many magnitudes the price of the book. I'm a student in Master of Health Services Management and doing a project based on KPI. I was really confused about steps to do that, until I found this book. It really helps me and I use it as a guideline. Strongly recommended.

The book was decent. However, there are a couple things to be aware of. First, while it is a good illustration for measurement, he repeats it far too often. The illustration he uses is late flights. For an airline, on-time performance is crucial and he shows why it is important and what actions should be taken. I first heard this illustration in an summary audiobook on KPIs, and bought the book to learn additional KPI illustrations. Unfortunately he repeats about the late flights over and over again. I have read many business books and have never seen someone repeat the same illustration over and over again until you're crying out for another illustration.Second, he says multiple times in his book the "The reader can access, free of charge, a PDF of the suggested worksheets, checklists and templates from his website. I did download the Zip file only to find that I would have to pay for this material. He says, "In the book and the accompanying PDF toolkit, I have many templates, checklists, workshop templates, a PowerPoint KPI sales pitch, one page KPI report formats to help the KPI team implement change rapidly. Readers will find it cost beneficial to purchase the electronic versions, thus avoiding a time consuming formatting exercise." So I can buy the electronic version of the book for $49.99 in order to get the templates. I already paid $36.50 for the book and you promised free templates. And here is the clincher, straight from the author. "As I only make USD $1.50 per book, I need to sell the electronic versions as they represent over USD$30,000 of my time over the years I have developed them." Seriously! To promise material for free and then charge for it shows a lack of integrity. I would never hire him as a consultant.

Very interesting perspective on reporting metrics. My boss wanted me to read the book and give him my thoughts. After 2 discussions we are looking to adopt many of Parmenter's methods in the Company. We are a small to medium business trying to align all our teams to company goals in meeting our mission, vision, and values.

Right cover wrong book. This appears to be a systematic problem with the publisher. Bought first book, discovered problem. Returned it and ordered a second replacement. Same problem. Read another review (after returning both books) and discovered another review citing the same problem. On the positive side, Amazon has made the return process very easy- return to Kohl’s or a ups store.

Wow this guy know how to take a few key pages 10-15 and bulls*** it all the way past 300 pages of the book. Really not worth the purchase.

Insightful. Has some good ideas.

A clear and concise approach to identifying and establishing effective performance measures. The differentiation between performance and result indicators and focus on setting KPIS from the bottom-up seems so obvious that I found myself questioning whether I was missing something. However, having tested with a few colleagues as a preamble to a complete overhaul of corporate performance measurement, the approach resonated strongly.I'd add this as recommended reading for anyone leading or participating in performance measurement.

A must have piece, if you want to devlop, implement and use KPIs !A very usefull book, well documented and easy to understand, eaven for notnatives English speakers.
