Wonderful Detail, Clarity and Accuracy
The T 70P has marvelous sound. Though not an audiophile, here is my impression of it.I used it on a 2012 Macbook Pro Air, which is said to have a lesser quality sound card, and iPhone 6. With both, I used the Beyerdynamic A 200p dac/amp.The sound is stunningly clear, with instruments seeming to be nicely apart, while vocals sound in the center. As others have commented, more than once I turned my head thinking I had heard a knock at the door as the sound was realistic enough to fool me.I listened to a variety of music, with the bass on "Silly Love Songs" one that is predominant. I was shocked at the clarity. It is not for "bass heads" but the bass sounds accurate. This song showcases Paul McCartney's bass, and it is a fun song to learn to play the bass line, which makes it good for a test. Strangely, I heard Paul speaking in the background at the 4:43 mark, but only with this headphone is it clear what he said. I've heard this pop tune many times over the decades but heard new things, including a beautiful acoustic guitar.Next, I listened to Swan Lake for the separation, and it was beautiful in detail. Then, I listened to a bootleg version of "Most of the Time" from Bob Dylan where the vocal and overall production is richly dark from Daniel Lanois. This and "Series of Dreams" helps test headphones. The vocal was upfront and rich sounding.I found the headphones to be fine on the iPhone 6 without an amp, but richer with. I imagine an amp with EQ would be even better and satisfy those who crave heavy bass. The noise 'cancelation' aspect is not as strong as the heavier DT 770 Pro, and the leakage was only minor, so on a subway you will not disturb anyone. These are not formal noise cancelation headphones, but as closed back, do cancel out noise naturally. The build quality suggests that they will last many years and they are light enough to wear for hours without fatigue. Made in Germany, the manufacturing feels solid and consistent with all Beyerdynamic products.I think that full sized headphones for portability is something that once experienced, little resistance is met. Even though full size headphones may even need their own case, I will travel by plane with them regardless. It is difficult to experience such rich detail, to the point where I heard guitar scratch by fingers, only to go back to something of lesser quality, just to be smaller. I'd rather have full sized headphones with the newly expected detail than disappointment with small in ears. The Beyerdynamics are manufactured in Germany, which brings up costs, but it reminds me of German quality reputation; like buying the 'Mercedes Benz' of headphones.Accuracy: I read that after many years of listening to 'colored' or heavily equalized earphones, it is a bit of an acquired taste to listen to accuracy. I agree with this. It did not take long to know I was listening to the music as it was recorded. I played with the iTunes EQ a bit (lots of presets) and found that I loved the 'flat' sound of "as is" recording which gives me the impression of "I will have my own opinion of this music, rather than someone else's", via heavy EQ.It is exciting to hear, for example, Dylan's "Black Diamond Bay", something I stopped listening to because I heard it too often from my youth, with new unheard detail, which is like opening up my entire music library afresh. I heard things in Gordon Lightfoot's voice that I had not heard before, and even Bing Crosby's vocals, recorded in the early 40's, are in stunning quality.I think it takes time to develop taste and I hope the kids who are listening to the heavy bass today do not dull their hearing for the enjoyments of tomorrow that await them. Long gone, I am grateful that my mother warned me against high volume in headphones decades ago, and exposed me to classical, Irish folk music, and live, outdoor orchestra concerts that enriched my life.

Nice sound but uncomfortable
Let me start by saying these sound wonderful. Crisp highs and nice mids. Bass is very flat which I really like a lot in any headphones I buy. Everything is heard as it should be. Absolutely zero sound leakage. These cans are easily driven from my Galaxy Nexus. However, the overall fit of the headphones leaves a lot to be desired. Have tried every possible fit to get these to sit right on my head. It is impossible. The left side sits just inside of my ear and rubs it the wrong way. The build quality lacks also. For the price point it does not feel as it should. Nice earpads but the sliding mechanism that controls which position you put on your head seems like it should be on a $75 set not a 650 usd one. I can tell there will be a problem down the road with it. The headband is plush but not much padding. Beyerdynamic got the sound right on these but the construction is terrible. I was expecting them to feel like heaven at such a high price point. My $125 Denon's feel 10x better then these. I would recommend these if you do not use your headphones for long sitting periods like me. If you do there are much better ones at such a high price. To bad because they have such a beautiful sound.

Great sound but questionable comfort
I've had this headphones for about 3 weeks now and really enjoyed the sound coming out of them... I'm not going into the technical details, Hertz and decibels as this information is perfectly covered by the professional reviewers... so I'll just say that the sound is great for the wide range of music styles when attached to a laptop or an "i" device. But at the same time the comfort is just not there... I have kind of a big head, not really huge, but big in proportions to the rest of the body, something similar to that guy that is shown on the pictures on the official website. I actually think that his eyes were closed from the pain... :) Anyway, with that head of mine I feel the pressure from the headphones all the time. In some cases it would even hurt to have them on for long time (20-40 minutes) so I have to take them off... I tried to stretch the band and even pulled it to the position when it was almost bending backwards, but it looks like they are designed to be tough and durable (which is supposed to be good) so that exercise didn't help... Now I'm keeping it stretched on the carrying case overnight to see if it's going ease up after some time... I really hope so... It got better just a little bit and sometimes I have them on for about an hour and the head gets used to the pressure and in those moments I notice for myself that I just enjoy the music and don't feel or pay attention to the headphones themselves. The cups have big diameter so they cover big area on each side of the head and with the pressure from the band the cups cut through areas of the scull with different surface levels so the pressure is not evenly distributed but hurts the parts that stick out the most. Also, if your hair is not cut short you will have the band and cups prints all over them, which in case of the office use may affect your appearance :) They are not light either... And one more thing - the carrying case. It's huge and is not really matching the meaning of the "p" in the name of the product... It's stuffed with the foam on the bottom and sides but doesn't have any protection on the top, which makes the excessive bottom and side protection kind of useless. I wish they would include the smaller case similar to the case used for T1 or T5 that I saw on the web...Other than the comfort and the ridiculous carrying case the product is good with respect to quality and durability and does produce great sound.UPDATE 04/09/2012: So it's been 6 months since the purchase. The comfort issues I described above are gone... The headphones finally broke in and in addition to great sound I'm getting comfortable fit on the head... The prints on my hair are still there though :) but I suppose it would be the same for any other headphones... Also, as someone else noticed they are not designed for being wrapped around your neck when not in use. The cups are just too big for that so you will have to find some other way to walk with them on your body without actually having them on your head, the need for which occurs sometimes when you travel through airports and sometimes want to take them off the head but not necessarily want to go through the extra motions of putting them back in the bag(pack)... Another observation: due to non-leather material on the cups and band they do absorb facial oil rather bad (if you have this problem) and then if you place them on some pile of papers on your desk all that oil will definitely transfer to those papers leaving quite distinct ugly oil marks, so make sure you don't put them on anything important... The good thing is that the cup and band covers are easily removable and can be simply washed with the soap and then put back on the phones. You'll just need something like a plastic toothpick to help you control the edge of the cover around the cup while putting it back on. Removing the band cover is a bit more complicated at first but once you figure it out it's quite easy and obviously easier to put it back on than the cup covers. However, another issue I've notices is that the wire that goes from the left to the right cup along the band under the band cover is not really protected and can potentially be damaged by the moving metal parts of the cup holders. The thin plastic inserts that are meant to protect the cable from rubbing against metal were cracked/broken when I removed the band cover, so they were of no use... The choice of that protection material doesn't seem to be the proper one for the application.Other then that I'm still enjoying the great sound... Use it for listening to the music, play shooter games on iPhone (great sound for that) and watch action movies (absolutely great sound as well)... By the way the best enjoyment I get is when listening to guitar music such as Jessy Cook... Get goose bumps anytime one of those songs come up on the playlist... You can hear every decibel coming from the guitar...UPDATE 12/09/2012: So, I had it for over a year now... Sound is still good... Durability... hmm.. I dropped them on the ceramic tile and cracked the plastic ring around the cup. Good thing it cracked laterally and although it split all the way through the ring is still there and usable even with this split. Anyway, that was my fault... But another issue is that the labels (T70p) pealed off from the cup... Surprisingly it only happened on one side while the other one is still Ok...That's it for now... :)
