Worked for 3 years before failure.
I bought two of these in September 2022, one for my fridge section and one for the freezer section, following a freezer failure. Until now they have behaved perfectly, then yesterday the one monitoring the fridge started displaying -35 degrees which I knew was false as the fridge wasn't frozen up. Today the display disappeared altogether so I inserted a fresh battery, but that didn't help, the display remained blank. So I am ordering a new one. Overall I am happy with these units, as 3 years of constant use before failure doesn't seem too bad these days. Although it does lose one star because of this.

Accurate, good features, instructions could be better though.
Having had two incidences of the freezer door being left ajar in one week, and nearly loosing the contents (not to mention the massive PITA of defrosting it all, etc, I decide to look for a freezer alarm. Its and integrated fridge/freezer, and the fridge already has this feature.. bizarre the freezer doesnt.. anyway... So, I needed a digital thermometer with an external probe (batteries dont work very well when frozen, so the electronics have to be on the outside). I read some good reviews of this item, and some bad reviews. The biggest themes were "its not accurate enough" and "I want the temperature inside my fridge, why do I have to use the OUT setting". I wasnt put off by the bad reviews for the following reasons : 1. My freezer should be at -20^C, and if it is at -5^C its warming up, and thats a problem. Even if the thermometer was out by 5^C, setting an alarm at -10^C would work.. as the temperature would be between -10^c and -5^c... both of which are a problem. I dont need a precise measure of the temperature, just a warning that it is climbing. 2. The thermometer is actually TWO thermometers... one is on the INSIDE of the unit, and one is OUTSIDE on the plug in probe. Most folk use these for measuring the temperature INside their house, and OUTside their house, hence the probe setting for the freezer is the OUT setting. Not too hard to comprehend. I ordered 9pm, and it arrived lunchtime the next day. Staggering, thanks Amazon! Its fairly self explanatory, pretty similar to most other battery powered gadgets.. OPen the battery door and remove the tab to activate. Plugged the probe in, there was only one place it would go on the bottom left side.. so cant really get that wrong. Ont he back is a button to flip between ^C/^F... pretty straight forward. The only bit I needed to refer to the "manual" for was setting the alarm. This could have been worded better, and a simple diagram would have helped. The basic idea is there are two modes... you're either setting a range for the alarm to trigger if it is within a range (for example, above 5^C, and below 10^C), or outside a range (for example below 5^C or above 10^C)... once that is clear, the poor description makes sense, and its pretty easy to set up. Mine was all up and running in under 10 minutes. Probably the best £12 of the year so far, as it is protecting £100's worth of food, and saving me the hassle of another defrost. The alarm is plenty loud enough too... I wouldn't hesitate to buy again, or recommend.

Excellent digital thermometer
This is a very nice small digital thermometer (about 6.5cm x 6cm x 1.5cm). Clean lines, looks good when stuck on fridge door. Nicely moulded casework, good quality. The display is very crisp and sharp and excellent contrast (typical liquid crystal black on light background). Its so good that you can easily read it from across the room depending upon room lighting. Attaches to metal doors by small magnets which are very strong so even will cope with my curved fridge door. Appears accurate although I have no way of checking this. Button on back panel allows you to switch display between Centigrade and Fahrenheit. Takes a small watch-style battery (supplied). Can switch between internal and external temperature sensor. External sensor supplied with approximately one metre of cable. Excellent device, recommended.

Accurate and useful digital thermometer - including for freezers below -20C
Bought to accurately set the thermostat on a new freezer. Did the job well. Accurate and gives me trust in my freezer's setting knowing it runs between -18.5 and -23.5C. Also showed my old Bosch freezer could be adjusted to run a couple of degrees warmer so could save a bit of electricity as it was consistently below max -20.5C when -18C is OK. I didn't buy this to leave in place long term as that is not practical as the wire is not a thin ribbon cable so you are breaking the seal slightly when you use it. Also it would get in the way and become a pain in general use of the appliance. I didn't test or use the alarm feature as a result. I knew that when I bought it so I won't knock any off any stars. Magnet attachment is useful. It works to lower temperatures as necessary in freezers (eg -25C to -18C) than a lot of other digital thermometers.

Great little gadget
Great little gadget...but others are right - the instructions aren't great. It's actually easy to set up, I just think the wording is a little convoluted. Also comes with a battery! We're keeping an eye on our chest freezer and it's doing the job!
