Inconsistent size
The height of the hydrated pods is really inconsistent and always greater than the 1.5” estimated height in the item description. I’ve found that the shortest is about 1.75” and the tallest is nearly 3”. Frustrating because it’s too tall for the 1.5” spaces in my Gardyn hydroponic system.

Not as substantial as the ones I got last year.
These seed pellets were not as large or as much quality as the bunch I got last year. I hope they perform as well as last year's purchase.

Very inconsistent sizes
I prefer coir to peat due to peat's tendency to repel water when dry (the opposite of what you want soil to do) and the fact that it isn't renewable. I have a tray with a capillary mat on it that just perfectly fits standard size 1.5-inch or so soil pellets, and this looked like a good number of them for the price. Should have known there would be a catch.Even just in the bag, they were quite obviously different sizes. I thought they were stuck together at first because there were some twice the size of others. I soaked them in water and they swelled up quickly, only took a few minutes. But once they had soaked up all they could hold, the size difference was even more pronounced. The shortest ones ended up being not even 2" tall, while the tallest were over 3".They'll still work to grow seeds, but my concern is that I have to have my grow lights as close as possible to new seedlings, and that's hard to do when they're not consistent heights. I'll seriously consider trying a different brand next time I need to restock.

So Disappointed!
I first purchased the 250 quantity to try them out. They were great. All pretty much the same size, all expanded and germination was good. After being so pleased with the first purchase I then went ahead and purchased the 1000 quantity. They are horrible. There were so many different sizes I had to first sort them for size. I found they ranged anywhere from 3/8" to 3/4". After wasting a bunch of time sorting 100 of them by size I started soaking them. They were so hard they would barely absorb water. They stayed hard and crumbly. I then took them out of the netting and thought I would just them as loose soil but can't even use them for that. The content is so dry that when trying to make a small hole to plant a seed or seedling the "soil" (soil in quotations as I would not classify the product as any type of soil) would just crumble in and not allow the hole to stay open. What they are calling soil looks, feels and acts like just some shredded stringy junk mixed with saw dust crumbs. It is horrible. You have to tear the netting off of them, soak the "soil" and then mix it with a lot of regular potting soil (like a ratio of 20:1 ... 20 being the amount of soil) to be able to use them at all. I am really surprised at the extremely poor quality of these pellets considering how great the bag of 250 pellets worked. I have sent these back for a refund and if the company does right by me I will consider another purchase. I just have a very hard time reconciling the quality difference between the bag of 250 and the box of 1000. I would purchase 4 bags of 250 but then it's much more expensive than the box of 1000. If this company does right by me I may take another chance and order more for my spring planting.

Great for hydro ops
I currently using these with 2" net pots to grow some hydroponic buds. They work exactly as they should. These work great as a standalone medium (no additional rocks, pellets, or tomato fencing to help with support) holding onto the plants stronger than I thought possible. My plants are pretty top heavy too, they are 8 weeks old and stand above 3 feet each, and still these hold them up perfectly fine. Sure they can be knocked over, but they aren't on the verge of tipping at allHowever value wise, I do wish it came with more than this

Easy to use
Directions were easy to follow. The pods expanded as soon as water was added. The seeds I planted started to grow within the days stated on seed packaging. I didn’t need a large quantity as I only have room for container gardening so the 8 pods were for what I needed. I placed in my small counter greenhouse to start the seedlings. I planted a month ago and have watered the pods a couple of times because the greenhouse isn’t humid enough to keep pods moist.

Some expanded, some didn't
Not sure why some expand & some don't. Should be all same contents. Maybe the pods were put together too tight on some.
