iFixit iOpener Toolkit

Well, iFixIt have done it again, this is an AWESOME bit of kit, just everything works so well, the cost is prefect, also, I had a issue where the iopener leaked, iFixit replaced it without any fuss at all, just can not fault them. The kit is so easy to use, the added storage space for the screws and bits is amazing, the drivers stay in place brilliantlly and the magnet closing holds it all together great.

I picked up this iFixit iOpener kit to help repair the back panel on my Samsung S21 Ultra and the camera lenses since they were both cracked. It made the whole process much easier than trying to do it without proper heat. Everything in the kit feels like really good quality material so it doesn't feel like your going to break the tools while prying stuff apart. Definitely recommend if your doing some DIY phone repairs, really decent value for money.

iFixit have some great tools and this package is no exception. Every item is highly useful was good value for money and provided basic tools for electronic repair. Each item is great quality and was excellent in its use for repair. The only item i really felt was awkward was the heat pad. Although effective you have to be extremely careful with it and it could burst. Additionally, if you dont quite get the required temperature it can take multiple heat cycles to get it right increasing the risk of its use. I had more luck with a hairdryer, however a heat gun is preferable. Overall strong product offering, however other iFixit items are better from experience.

So bought this after wanting to self repair my iPhone 13, needed the heater to help heat up the glue on the phone, needed to pop the thing in the microwave for 30 seconds as it is heat resistant and then place on my iPhone, with some prying was able to remove the screen and replace. Well worth it especially when it costs over £200 quid to replace the screen from anywhere else. I can now use this easy tool on any other iPhone or Samsung device I have. Quality product that helped me decrease the price of a job from over £200 to £100.

This comes with almost everything you'd needed to take apart a modern smartphone. Some of the plastic tools and levers proved insufficient. I was able to remove the external cover but the battery was a challenge more of the credit card sized plastic would have helped or something more rigid. There are metal tools for this bit it goes without saying to be careful around the battery. I ended up replacing the battery as a precaution as I wasn't sure if I'd damaged it. To be fair this kit is aimed at screens and previous devices I've repaired have not had such a difficult to remove battery. The kit worked very well on just about everything else internally. I think it is good value for money... you should get at least one repair out of it but you might need to replace the plastic levers. I think this would work better on more conventional devices, mid to low range smartphones. Flagship devices tend to be more complicated. Like my phone... Even then this kit and the replacement screen assembly I ordered and battery I spent less than a professional phone repair. And that's with original official parts. I would recommend that you read the repair guide for your device first. I think this will work for most devices but not all. There will be odd tool that they sell that you might benefit from.

Well no case to keep things in, and arrived non complete , it’s ok ,,quality is good , bare minimum to open things , but not all, just some It’s overpriced for what it is in my opinion

Tanto el iOpener en sí, como las herramientas incluidas son de gran calidad, como todo lo de iFixit, lo único malo podría ser que la caja llegó algo maltratada, aunque no se rompió o dañó nada. Muy recomendable.

Wer regelmäßig moderne Technik repariert wird mindestens einmal mit verklebten Elektronik-Komponenten oder Gehäuse in Kontakt gekommen sein. Von einem Smartphone Display bis hin zu einem Notebook Akku eines Obstbegeisterten Tech-Riesen aber auch das Gehäuse einer Smartwatch oder Action Cam. Überall dort trifft man auf isolierende und abdichtende Klebeflächen, die sich (das ist ihr Zweck) nicht unter normalen Bedingungen zerstörungsarm lösen lassen. Mit dem iOpener Toolkit bekommt man nicht nur eine Reihe an zufälligen Werkzeugen zur Hand sondern ein genau auf diese Szenarien abgestimmten Werkzeuge. Die Qualität der Werkzeuge ist durchweg gut, beachtet man den geringen Preis sogar mehr als gut. Ein Spudger oder die Opener Karten und Picks müssen aus Kunststoff sein, auch wenn das einige Käufer in den Kommentaren bemängelt haben. Dass diese Tools aus Kunststoff sind, hat seinen Sinn. Kurz erklärt, verkratzt etwas nur dann wenn es die gleiche Härte oder eine geringere Härte als das andere Material hat. Ein Kunststoffwerkzeug neigt also weniger schnell dazu ein Gerät zu zerkratzen oder beschädigen als ein Metallwerkzeug. Daher sind Spudger und Opening Cards/Picks meist aus einem robusten aber "opferbaren" Kunststoff gefertigt. Das iOpener Toolkit umfasst 13 verschiedene Hilfsmittel wobei aufmerksame Beobachter nur 12 entdecken können. Ein Hilfsmittel davon ist das Tray an sich, das sich zum Sortieren von Schrauben eignet. Es bietet hierfür mehrere Vertiefungen und ausreichend Platz. Das 13. Hilfsmittel, das "Integrated SIM Ejection Tool", versteckt sich in der drehbaren Griffspitze des Bithalters. Ein Hinweis hierauf wäre wirklich hilfreich gewesen und würde ggf. die ein oder andere Retoure vermeiden. Die Bits sind aus Stahl gefertigt, daher robust und präzise. Sie sitzen gut in kleineren Schraubenköpfen wie z.B. Gehäuseschrauben, zudem sind sie magnetisch was die Aufnahme von herausgedrehten Schrauben erleichtert. Apropos magnetisch, der Bithalter selbst hat in der Bitaufnahme ebenfalls eine Magnetfläche verbaut. Das Highlight des Kits ist aber sehr wahrscheinlich für jeden der namensgebende iOpener. Dieses Tool ist mit abstand das hilfreichste Werkzeug aus dem Set. Das Funktionsprinzip ist ebenso simpel wie genial. Ein Hitzeresistenter Kunststoffschlauch mit Gel gefüllt, welches die Wärme bei Auflage auf ein Werkstück überträgt und somit Klebeflächen erwärmt, sodass der Klebstoff sich in einen lösefähigen Zustand versetzt. Erhitzt wird der iOpener einfach in der Mikrowelle für 30 Sekunden (je nach Watt unterschiedlich - Brandgefahr!) und kann anschließend an den flachen Enden verletzungsfrei transportiert werden. Achtung, der wird richtig heiß! Man sieht also, das Kit ist durchdacht und so preiswert wie möglich für eine brauchbare Qualität produziert worden. Da Kunststoffwerkzeuge bei den Arbeiten schnell verschleißen können, ist der Preis für den Wiederkauf essentiell. Mit Rund 20€ würde ich jederzeit wieder zu dem Set greifen. iFixit ist ein Projekt das sich wirklich mit jedem Cent zu unterstützen lohnt und an diesem Kit merkt man, dass Gewinn nicht an erster Stelle für sie steht.
