Open Farm Ancient Grains Dry Dog Food, Wild Caught Salmon Kibble, 22lb Bag

When I first adopted my girl Bodhi, I was told by the adoption agency and my vet to keep her on Purina. Was told it was the most regulated of all brands. Bodhi was ok with it but I had to add boiled chicken, carrots, other ingredients to make her interested in the food. Then I started going fresh. She did well on the fresh but it turned into a car payment the older she got. Went back to Purina but then they had some problems with owners blaming the food for their dogs getting sick so I stopped immediately and went on the hunt for a dry food I felt comfortable feeding her. I went down the rabbit hole researching dog food brands. So here is my review of the Alaskan caught Salmon. First off, this is the first dry I do not have to add other ingredients to. Bodhi just downed it the second I put it in her bowl which is a first! Next feeding I just put a bowl down and she did it again! She loves the food on its own! She is not a food crazed dog so it was really something. Her first 💩 was exactly the same texture as when i had her on the very expensive fresh food which according to vets is the perfect consistency so another win! I’m still new to this brand, will update as time goes on. As a beginner I purchased two 4 pound bags just to see. She loves the salmon, turkey is yet to be determined but regardless I will purchase the large bag of salmon for sure! Very happy 😊 Well, eight/nine months have passed and I’m still very happy with Open Farm. Bodhi was not a fan of the Turkey. She ate and finished the small bag that I purchased to test flavors but I had to add a little encouragement in her bowl. The Venison however was a huge hit. I have to say the venison is pricier than the salmon but it’s nice to have another flavor that she enjoys so much to switch it up every now and again. Still really happy! 😊

My beagle is 33 months old (almost 3 years old) and has been struggling with allergies since I got him at 8 weeks old. I had tried everything, and finally had my vet send his blood out for an allergy test. We were shocked by how many food allergies he had, and only 4 kinds didn't have any of his allergies - the Salmon and Whitefish are 2 of them. Most places will say fish, but then add other protein by-products, making the name misleading and Open Farms does not do that. Their ingredient list is easy to read. For the first time in the time since he came to me, his mouth isn't bright red. He still has a couple environmental allergies, but my goodness I am so grateful to Open Farms for finally allowing me to feel like a good dog dad. I understand the price is a bit much when people first see it, but for me it has been worth it seeing my dog not scratch and cry constantly. My dog loves the food. It does smell like fish, but it does not make my dog smell like fish. My dog does try to fool me by using his buttons to ask for more food, pretending I forgot to feed him where he likes it that much! I highly recommend it, even if your dog does not suffer from allergies.

Right off the bat my dog went crazy when I opened the bag. Usually my mini schnauzer doesn’t get excited for kibble. This was different. One he loves salmon so this was an amazing find. Definitely 4-5 times pricier than what we are used to paying originally. This is different though it’s pure health. The list of ingredients speak for itself. My dog ATE it up in seconds without even hesitation. 100% A+ find. If he didn’t polish his bowl I knew I was going to have to go back to the drawing board. Perfect for his gut, coat, skin, joints you name it. The ingredients have so many medicinal qualities it’s beyond worth paying more. We as humans eat well, we pay good money for our food. Why not pay for our loved pets. They are our family, I count him as my own son. So no questions asked I recommend this to people who have picky eaters and need to provide health, and wealth all in a bowl.

Been buying elsewhere and now can get through Amazon is a great thing. Dog loves it but after all he is a Lab. Not cheap but seems like a quality kibble.

I have a golden retriever who cannot handle chicken, and a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel with no diet restrictions and they both eat this food with no fuss or drama.

Our dogs love this. I appreciate the ingredients and am hoping that they are not the same as brands like Purina. We only use these for extra food as we home cook but our dogs really like these. The price is pretty steep but I want my animals to eat decent clean foods and I hope it's this.
