The Hitman's Guide to Staying Alive Despite Past Mistakes: The Hitman's Guide, Book 2

Mostly a fun book
I loved the first book in this series, maybe because of the novelty, but I think this author is clever in her dialog and writes well. This book, while I did like and still like Leland and Jackson, wasn't quite what I was comfortable with. So many times I found myself looking down at the bottom right hand corner of my Kindle to see what percentage I was at. I felt this book was over long and Leland's snark and off color comments began to irritate me. He kept going from serious in charge hitman to 12 years old and I was getting dizzy. Also, Jackson, seemingly in order to keep up with Leland, began to respond with the snark also and that, in my opinion, diminished his effectiveness. I just think there was too much hurtful snark when Leland and Jackson were supposed to be in love with each other. There were definitely lots of good points and, as I said above, I think this author writes well. The scene in the forest with the spider had me laughing so hard I was crying. Conversely, the scene in the forest with the sasquatch role play was terrible and not funny at all. The ending chapters were very exciting, although dragged out a bit, and I was surprised at the conclusion. I will certainly stay with this series and am looking forward to the next book, but I would like to see Leland toned down a bit from the hurtful stuff and would like the books to be just a tad shorter.

Too much!
This one was just too over the top. The humour took over until it was just irritating. I ended skimming entire chapters to get back to the plot. Honestly there is about five chapters of story and the rest is immature humour. Also the chemistry between Leland and Jackson disappears and is replaced by two clones of the same person, while two supposed adults are also transported into frat boys. They act like friends more than lovers. It's only at the end that it seems the author realised they are supposed to actually be in love. I've been trying to read this book for almost a year. I'm so glad its over. I'd recommend Winters VRC series over this. Same humour but more bearable.

All the laughs and fun, and even some heartfelt feels!
If you thought Leland was inappropriate and out of control before, you ain't seen nothing yet...lord help us all.Hitman's Guide #2 had me laughing out loud- so loudly and so often, it's a good thing I live alone! Not only is Leland just as out of control as before, he now has Jackson as an accomplice. And OMG did these 2 crack me up! From the silly things Leland talks Jackson into, to the trouble they get into when they're on the job. They are just so fun and perfect together. And I just adore how Jackson loves Leland, it's really the sweetest thing."I shake my head, but I know that I'll chuckle at anything he needs me to because I'm a sucker and I love him. And his newness hasn't worn off yet. I'm not sure it ever will. I can picture him keeping me entertained decades from now."You and me both Jackson!Leland had me all up in my feels this go 'round, in addition to all the laughs, which I was not ready for- I've gotten so used to his over-the-top ways that it was hard to see him so vulnerable. And yet I loved seeing that side of him. I really liked getting the look into his past, heartbreaking as it was.Nothing gets Leland down for long though, and soon enough we're back to driving the bad guys crazy.I am really loving Leland and Jackson, so much more than I thought or expected. I'm so glad Ms. Winters is making the Hitman's books into a series- I will happily read about Leland and Jackson's adventures and antics for as long as she's willing to write them.

Beware the Sasquatch!
Jackson and Leland are back and even funnier in the second installment of Alice Winters' Hitman series. Leland's past has come back to haunt him, and he'll need help from all the friends he can get (even Jackson's guntoting mother, Ava) to get himself and Jackson out of trouble this time!I love this book so much that I want to sleep with it under my pillow every night...but that would be weird, right? If you haven't read Hitman 1 yet, go read it now and then come back. I'll wait. If you HAVE read Hitman 1, why are you wasting your time reading this review? You already KNOW that part the second is going to be worth your time, so what is with all the lollygagging, eh?This book is not a standalone.

Lighthearted and truly laugh out loud funny, the second adventure of Leland and Jackson doesn't disappoint.
I was recommended the first of these books in an online Facebook group and while I was a touch sceptical to begin with, I'm so glad I have it a chance. These books have it all. Comedic moments courtesy of the impossibly ridiculous Leland and Jackson. Well Jackson is the perfect accompaniment to him. Sweet and romantic moments with a dash of sexy time keep things in the romance sphere but the mystery element is great. I love having something substantial to sink my teeth into and I already have the third book queued up for once I've finished writing this. I highly recommend these books, they are just the escape you need in the current climate of the world.

Hitmans Guide right on target
Another brilliant instalment from Alice Winters. I was nervous about this one, not thinking the first could be topped, and well how wrong I was! This was great. Full of humour and banter, these two just go from strength to strength. And it had a lot more feels, which we know Leland deals with by making jokes. It’s nice to see Lelands circle of friends/family growing. And Jackson well, what can I say. He is perfect. He takes all of Lelands quirk and crazy and adores him anyway. Can’t recommend more. I great read with action, guns, fences, new faces and blow up randy. Can’t ask for more.

Loved it x
This is book 2 and it's just as good as book 1...In this one we get to meet Lucas who trained Leland...Leland is just as funny as in the first book but you can't help loving him even if he does drive Jackson crazy sometimes..I love the other characters too..We meet Cassel who's also a hitman..I won't spoil the story but it's a brilliant read x

Genius
The Hitman's Guide to Staying Alive Despite Past Mistakes is absolute, pure unadulterated genius. It's just as bonkers, proper guffawing laugh out loud hilarious and completely brilliant as the first book in the series. I certainly hope there's more to come in this series!
