I owned the base version of this watch and loved it for years. The modes are simple and work great, plus it's nice and small and doesn't get in the way on your wrist. I would keep it on for everything including sports and martial arts. Eventually I went through an especially tough martial arts seminar where it got slammed on the ground over and over. Still worked fine but opened enough to get a little bit of water in it when I swam a day or two later and fogged up. Buying a replacement, I tried the "negative display" this time. I liked the stealth appeal that maybe it would blend in better at night. It does okay at that, but it's about 50% harder to read in general. At first I didn't really think about what negative display meant. I thought it was kind of like a black background with light digits. Whereas it's more like a black foreground with holes where the numbers are. Meaning the numbers aren't glowing, they're just empty spaces. Hence negative display. In addition to this taking some getting used to reading, it also means the display blocks a lot of the light when you turn it on. In a pitch black room it's easy to read with the light, but in rooms where it's half-dark it's kinda hard to read in general. Still, this version was a bit cheaper and it's an interesting novelty to try. I paired it with a midnight blue nylon band and it looks sleek. Overall, 5 stars for the base watch. 4 stars for the all-black version.

I’ve been using this Casio W800HG watch and it has been exactly what I was looking for: a reliable, simple, and durable everyday watch. Not much of a digital watch fan but wanted one for work. Also something with a good water resistance so I can jump in a pool and not worry about what watch I have on. This was it! Casio's in this range have a reputation for being solid, and for good reason. I love the blacked out look of mine. It can be difficult in some situations or angles to see the time clearly, but no big deal for me. Features are great. And at these prices, I'm pretty sure I'll have a new Casio here soon again.

Works good but the digital numbers aren’t as bright as it looks even with the light on and the light lasts like 2 sec, good thing is that sunlight makes it way easier to read not bad

Great watch. Easy to set up. Water resistance 100meters aka definitely shower proof. Stop watch. Different types of alarm options, which I don’t use but great to have. Absolutely love that I can see what day of the week it is (Mon/tue/wed/etc), the time (in 12/24h your preference) and the full date (year-month-day) all on one screen powered by a durable little battery. Love the blackout look although due to the contrast It does require a toggle on the light function to see the information clearly depending on available light, but it’s not a biggie and you quickly acclimate. Battery that will supposedly last 10 years is fantastic, especially in these times. The watch is very lightweight, I forget I have it on sometimes. The band is on the longer side, if it bothers you can always just purchase a different replacement band of your preference. If you need to know the time in 2 time zones, this does that too with just a toggle of the function key. I’ve been wearing the original plastic band and it began to show some plastic peeling wear about a month in. Now after 2 months daily wear it’s becoming more prominent, so I will probably be changing the band.

Nice watch that holds a lot of data. Dial is black and small, somewhat difficult to read. More for a boy than a man due to small size.

I usually use a smartwatch, but since I'm going to the Navy, this one was recommended to me, and as soon as it arrived I started using it and, tbh, I'm loving it. I don't need to take it off for anything, it doesn't need charging, it doesn't bother me if I sit for a long time. In short, I recommend it.

Amazing watch. Loved the function but after just one month of daily wear, the hole the pin enters completely broke off leaving the watch irrepairable. I've reached out to customer service for Casio but have not heard back yet. Heartbroken since I loved this watch and was even shopping for one for a friend. UPDATE: After emailing with customer service, they stated that my only options are mailing the watch to a repair facility or trying to get it replaced under warranty. If i mail it, it seems I need to pay for my own shipping costs to mail it nearly all the way across the country. If i apply for warranty, the warranty only covers internal parts, not the pin hole breaking. Im heartbroken that Casio quality has dropped so drastically.
