A romantic delight!
This is a younger Loki. He is working out his parole with Odin for a crime he did not commit ( for once ). He describes himself a monster while quaking with rage as a young girl tells him that her boyfriend hits her. When he reads her mind he sees ... the boyfriend is not what he seems. Time to go to work.

A Charming, Dangerous Fallen God
I very much enjoy "fallen down-on-their-luck gods among us" stories. Start with a book like Neil Gaiman's "American Gods". Then you have Simon Green's series following the adventures of John Taylor in the Nightside. Christopher Moore has dabbled in this genre, as has Terry Pratchett. If you enjoy any of those authors I think it likely you will enjoy this book. If you have enjoyed this book, you might want to check them out. Here, we have Loki, the god of mischief, who has been banished from Asgard and sent to Earth to perform good deeds as penance. Is he a bad guy, or a good guy who's being set up, or, (in the best noir tradition), a bit of both? However it works out, it is an exciting ride. The story is told mostly through Loki's interior monologues and his non-stop voice-over that brings the reader into a tale that sometimes reads like an old "Confidential Detective" story and sometimes reads like a stand up comedian's skewed riff on the modern world. The upshot is that the plot doesn't matter all that much except as an excuse to keep Loki moving and scheming and acting and reacting. The real fun is in being taken along by Loki and entertained by Loki. This sort of thing only works if the hero is compelling enough to hold your interest, and the writing is sharp enough and consistent enough to maintain the illusion that Loki is a powerful character. If jokes fall flat or the character feels phony or the fancy patter is unconvincing, then the whole undertaking falls apart. This is where "1-800-Mischief" really shines - it feels authentic, and Loki is a convincingly realized character. You have to have a light touch, but still have firm control over the story and character so that things don't just get frantic and silly. That's just so hard for an author to do, and at least for me, Dawn Blair sticks the landing every time. So, if you want something a bit different, entertaining, well edited, and assured, this is certainly worth a look. This is a short work, barely a novella, and appears to be a cliffhanger prequel. That's fine, but it's good to know that going in. Please note that I found this book while browsing Amazon Kindle freebies. I have no connection at all to the author or the publisher of this book.

A Modern Adventure Of The Norse God Loki
Many years ago the Norse god Loki was punished to serve time here on Earth protecting humans from trouble created by the other gods of the different Pantheons. With every human he rescues he gets one more step closer to finishing his punishment. Yet some one has decided to trick the trickster, by stealing his tokens of good deeds possibly forcing Loki to have to start all over. This was a fun read. I have always loved the god Loki, even once named a cat after him. I liked the way the author presented the Norse god. There are other gods in this story as well. From what I can tell this is just one of a series of short stories regarding Loki and his deeds. Readers should know that the ending of this short story is a cliffhanger.I look forward to reading more of his adventures.

Fun, Quick Read
This was delightful, Ms. Blair got the 'voice' just right. This is not a full blown novel, in fact, the author says herself it was meant to be a quick little one-shot. I would certainly buy a full novel and hope she continues writing the character. The story itself reminds me of The Dresden Files, supernatural detective stories with some humor. My 12-year-old son is about all things mythology, and currently Norse mythology. With that in mind, there's some 'language' that people might find questionable, and some 'racy' thoughts, but nothing graphic. I won't have a problem letting him read it.My only complaint is that it ends with a cliffhanger. Luckily, the next two stories are already available.

Nice starter course, but now I want the full meal
Lovely write although it feels like an aperitif leaving one hungry for the full meal. It's a good intro and almost a prequel and definitely Loki is the star of the show. I love how they match Norse mythology with the modern world and can only begin to wonder on what other adventures are in store. Great work and I'll be checking out the other books to see what other mischief Loki manages to get himself into. If you wanted to get my attention to read more, kudos Miss Blair.

Entertaining and imaginative
This series is fun to read and I will be keeping an eye out for the next one to be released. I would recommend this to readers who enjoy stories where mythological characters are plunged into modern-day settings. Here, we have the Norse god Loki taking on a career as private detective / supernatural crime-fighter. Great fun. Some readers may be frustrated by the fact that each book is very short and incomplete of itself. Buy them all, or you won't be able to follow the plot.

Loki
This was just what I was looking for at the moment, someting short and fun to read!! I love Norse mythology and that makes this an awesome read! Loved it! Loki was just perfect and exactly what I wanted to read, the story could have been one of the original lore, as all parties seem to mislead each other, like they always do in Mythology. All in all well done! And I am looking forward to reading more of Lokis story!

Short but fun
A very interesting idea - Loki is banished to Midgard (Earth) instead of Thor for a crime he might (for once) not have committed. Apparently, he's been here a while sending transdimensional beings back where they came from and helping us poor mortals out in the process. It's told in the first person, but Loki's personality hasn't really come through yet. Hopefully, we'll see more in the next book.
