A most useful source for the early papacy
This is an old, but still very useful collection of primary sources concerning the history of the early papacy, translated into English. Originally published in 1927, in the Columbia University Records of Civilization Series, it has been reprinted more than once. It contains translations of many excerpts from biblical, patristic, papal, and other sources that refer to the bishopric of Rome, as well as to the Petrine links to the papacy. It covers the period from the Apostle Peter to Pope Siricius (about 400 CE).
