I wanted to grow my own pellicle which means it is exactly as described. People commenting that it doesn’t come with SCOBY are just not reading. This does indeed have the live symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast. It does indeed start a batch of kombucha for you. I did a half gallon and it took about 10 days to get to the level of tang I wanted my brew tk be at. My pellicle growth is a little more yeasty than anticipated which is why I gave 4 instead of 5 stars. I am still working on my second batch so after more time I will edit to give it another review. There has not been enough time to grow my full pellicle yet to truly show the SCOBY that people want to see. But if you read this understand you can start your own batch of kombucha and grow your own pellicle or mother with this tea. It’s exactly as described. Update: after more time the pellicle is growing quite well and beautifully.
