Ultra Blue

Classic Utada Hikaru. I love her voice...Unique and has emotion to it. I get a certain emotion that runs through me when I listen to many of her songs. Most of the songs on this CD are good but only a few are a bit of duds. That is why i knocked off a star. I recommend this to anyone who has not heard J-pop before. If you like this I think you will be disappointed with other J-pop bubblegum crap out there. She is the real deal.

I liked the quality and truly matching theme from the title of the music album. I definitely see the meaning of "Ultra Blue" in this Album's song lyrics. I listened to this album to hear other songs sung by Hikaru Utada.

I bought this album after listening to "This Is The One," and while I enjoyed that album as a primer, "Ultra Blue" simply blew me away. The songs are beautiful written, and Hikki's vocals are spot on and haunting. I love every song on this album, and "Be My Last" still gives me goosebumps every time I listen to it. I'm grateful that I was able to obtain this album with relative ease - it seems to be so hard to get imported music in the US! Probably in my top 20 favorite albums of all time (out of LOTS!)

Been listening to her music since the First Love singles album came out. Great choice of songs and an amazing artist.

Everyone needs this in there music collection. Just Angelic.

I absolutely love Utada Hikaru and this is one of my favorite albums by her (even though I love most of her other ones as well). So worth it and I love ever single song on here. She the first artist I listened to in Japanese and she will always be my favorite.

It was ok at first, the product seemed fine and in perfect, but as soon as I took off tue wrapping the case detacted itself.Very disappointedHowever, only reason why im giving it 2 stars is because the music quality is good

Sorti en 2006, 2 ans après  Exodus , son album anglophone très réussi qui offrait des chansons variées et des arrangements créatifs comparé aux standards de la pop, Ultra Blue (et sa pochette rouge pétante, mais rassurez-vous, le CD est bleu!) m'a quelque peu déconcerté à la première écoute. D'autant plus que je l'ai découvert après Heart Station, album qui mettait la très belle voix d'Hikki en valeur... En cause, des arrangements kitschs avec nombreux synthés 90s à l'appui et une certaine tendance à la répétitivité. L'accent est moins mis sur la performance vocale de la chanteuse qu'il ne le sera sur Heart Station, sorti quelques années plus tard. En fait, en l'écoutant, on a vraiment l'impression d'avoir affaire à un album des années 90... cette impression mise à part, l'album mûrit au bout de quelques écoutes, et se révèle même assez varié. Le plus gros reproche qu'on puisse lui faire, ce sont ses arrangements linéaires, souvent prévisibles, et les mélodies monotones ayant tendance à s'étaler sur peu de notes (ce n'était pas le cas sur Exodus, voire la gymnastique vocale assez hallucinante sur Kremlin Dusk), alors qu'Hikki est une chanteuse accomplie! On ne peut s'empêcher de penser, du coup, que Ultra Blue aurait pu (et dû) être bien meilleur.A défaut d'être un indispensable (sauf si vous êtes fan), Ultra Blue est tout de même un bon album, composé et écrit par Hikki, à la voix toujours aussi agréable et mature. Parmi les titres forts de cet opus, on retiendra les très entraînants This Is Love et Making Love, le très lounge Nichiyo No Asa (probablement ma préférée), Colors et ses accents pop 90s assumés, et une jolie balade, Be My Last. On y retrouve aussi le titre Passion, tiré du jeu vidéo Kingdom Hearts.Disque sympathique, mais je ne le recommande pas comme premier choix pour découvrir Hikki (préférez plutôt  Heart Station ). Die anderen Alben werden folgen. Ich höre sie ja schon seit einigen Jahren. Utada hat für Kingdom hearts1und 2 gesungen. Ihre Stimme ist einfach unverkennbar. Gänsehaut pur.
