Review: Great improvement to home networking - Given the minimal discussion of this topic, I found it pretty difficult to figure out how to set up my MOCA network when I set everything up as instructed and nothing worked. I literally had three separate Comcast technicians look at my new house to troubleshoot issues, and all three told me that MOCA is BS, makes no sense conceptually, and is just a marketing gimmick to sell devices like this. They were all 100% wrong, and as I write this, I have a functional MOCA throughout my house. But I hit some a few frustrating speed bumps along the way before I got my system up and running. In short, MOCA is a plug-and-play solution for using coaxial cable outlets in a room to provide a hardline ethernet internet connection. You can plug it directly into computers/TVs in those rooms in the same manner that you'd plug them directly into your router with a hardline connection, or can alternatively use it for WiFi extenders to expand coverage throughout the house. MOCA is significantly (think 2-3x) faster and more reliable than WiFi. If you're happy with your WiFi, no need to bother with this setup, but I'm glad that I did. In my experience, these adapters themselves are trivial to set up. You plug in the power, connect the coaxial cable from the wall to the adapter, and run an ethernet cable from the adapter to whatever you want to put on the Internet. That's it. The hard part is finding and eliminating the network bottlenecks in the system. My biggest issue was finding all of the cable splitters in my new house and installing the correct replacements, since the right kind of splitter for MOCA (i.e., splitters allowing high enough frequencies in the MOCA range such as up to 2300 MHz) are not standard equipment provided by ISPs like Comcast and need to be purchased separately. This will not work otherwise. Long story short, I had a couple different splitters hidden in different locations in my new house, and until I found them all, the MOCA system was entirely nonfunctional. I'll also note that I'm using an Xfinity XB-7 gateway (modem/router combo) with built-in MOCA support, which means I didn't need to use one of these adapters with my router. If you're in a similar boat and have a MOCA-capable router, make sure you actually enable MOCA mode on the router. You can look up how to do that online (e.g., search for how to change the settings on your Xfinity router). All of the above is, of course, just talking about my experience with MOCA generally. I'm not in a position to compare different adapters, but this product does exactly what it says it will do and provides high-speed internet all over the house via the coaxial outlets. That's a 5/5 in my book.
Review: Clean and simple solution - Adds 3ms to your ping, but amazing throughput and flexibility! - Love these devices. I own 3 of the 2.5Gbps. I have a single MoCA connected in the basement to my data center switch, another on the 1st floor connected to a wifi AP, and another on the 2nd floor connected to a switch in my office. These devices were a no brainer to setup - simply plug and play. Only caveat being that they will add around a 3ms ping time. That's it. Otherwise just as good as regular CAT6 on the throughput. I opted for the 2.5Gb/s adapters even though I'm only running 1Gb/s switches for potential network upgrades in the future. The speedtests are machine to machine, but these devices will maximize your WAN circuit with similar results. I'm not a gamer, but these devices are perfect for remote work, Zoom, FaceTime, streaming etc-- 0 issues! I can imagine if you're a hardcore gamer the 3ms latency may be a turnoff, but that's for you to decide. Super good value for the money and saved a ton of time fishing cables through drywall.

**Q: What does "requires that your router support bonded moca 2.0" mean? can't i just use ethernet to ethernet via coax and get full speed bridging?**
A: That statement is a little confusing. 
If you only want to purchase one bonded MOCA adapter to extend the network via coax, you will need your fios/cable modem with router to support MOCA 2.0 bonded.  
If you are using the two adapters to extend out the network to two different locations via coax,  you will need your fios/cable modem with router to support MOCA 2.0 bonded.
Otherwise like most of us, we will need to use one of these adapters at the off the shelf router because most of the certified Doscis 3.1 cable modems will not have a built in router that also supports bonded Moca 2.0.

**Q: I already have moca built in, can I use each of these in other rooms to bring high speed data to them instead of using one to connect the router?**
A: MoCA acts like an ethernet bridge, meaning it "converts" Ethernet to coax and back again, so that devices connected appear to do so over Ethernet (except for delay differences). If you have MoCA in your house, and it uses the LAN channels (not WAN), and uses no privacy, then this device can connect to that and appear to be part of the same network. For example, for those with Verizon FiOS, they have two MoCA channels; one WAN (C4 - ONT to the router) and one LAN channel (D-channel). The WAN channel has privacy enabled, and most commercially-available devices won't communicate on that WAN channel. However, the LAN channel has privacy disabled, and most commercially-available devices will communicate on that channel. The router actually has two MoCA transfceivers (one for WAN, one for LAN). If you have a MoCA device that already communicates over LAN (i.e., Tivo box), then it can connect to the router, and likewise, you can use one of these devices (Actiontec) to join to the MoCA network to provide Ethernet to another room. The limit for MoCA 1.1 is 16 devices, AFAIK, but this is a MoCA 2.0 device and I can't recall that device limit, but it has to be at least 16 devices. Note that the router serves as a device, and is most likely the NC (Network Coordinator), depending on your coax topology and best signal device.

**Q: What comes in the box?**
A: Two Ethernet to coax adapter boxes, two Ethernet cables, two short coax cables with female connectors and a coax splitter.

**Q: Do any of these adapters allow input via Ethernet? All diagrams appear that input is via Coax only. My modem and current wiring is ethernet only.**
A: I guess it depends on how you're defining "input".  The idea is that you're converting RJ-45 to Coax, connecting via Coax then converting back to RJ-45.  So if your Modem is Ethernet (RJ-45) and you connect that to the Actiontec and connect the Actiontec to Coax then at some other point in your Coax wiring, you connect the other Actiontec and connect its RJ-45 to something (let's say a network switch with a couple of computers on it) then those devices can talk Ethernet to your modem via the Coax wiring by virtue of the Actiontec converting RJ-45 to Coax back to RJ-45.  Does that help?

Love these devices. I own 3 of the 2.5Gbps.
