This infrared thermometer has been an excellent purchase for my family. It provides fast and accurate temperature readings in just a few seconds without needing to touch the skin, making it perfect for babies, children, and adults. The large backlit display is easy to read, even at night, and switching between different modes is simple. It feels lightweight, comfortable to hold, and is very easy to operate. The quality is excellent, and having quick, reliable readings gives great peace of mind when someone is sick. It’s a must-have for every home, and I would definitely buy it again.

This thermometer works well overall and is easy to use, but there are a few things to be aware of. First, batteries are not included, so make sure you have 2*AA ready. It has 3 modes, Body, Room Temp, and Surface. - The Body mode works great and gives quick, reliable readings. - The Room Temp mode only shows the temperature of the room you’re in, no matter where you point the sensor. - The Surface mode seems to have a limited temperature range (likely calibrated around body temp, I guess). If you point it at something too hot, like inside a hot oven, it shows “High,” and if you point it at something too cold, like the inside of a fridge, it shows “Lo,” without displaying the actual temperature. (Minus 1 star for this point) Overall, still a good, functional thermometer for basic use.

I got tired of using my "rub across your forehead/stick it in your ear" thermometer and IR "point at forehead and read" thermometers have been around for years now so I figured it was time to upgrade. There are a lot of "forehead only" thermometers but I also wanted one that could read the temperature on surfaces. After looking at several candidate products, I selected this Berrcom unit and have been happy with it, especially for the price. The first thing I did was to compare the reading between this thermometer and the previous unit I have been using for years on my forehead and they measured exactly the same temperature which was a good vote of confidence. It is nice to just point and shoot and have a reading in a second instead of having to rub my old one back and forth across my forehead not knowing if it is always flat against my forehead. It is not shown in the picture, but the background lights up green when your temperature is in a good healthy range, and red when it is above normal. Next, I put this product into "surface temperature" measuring mode and checked the wall temperature next to my house air conditioning/heating control unit and they measured the same temperature as well (within one degree). I also recently installed some reflective insulation in front of a window that gets direct sun all day and it was extremely helpful to measure the window surface temperature before and the back of the window insulation after to see that there was a very respectable drop in surface temperature. For under $10, this product is a no-brainer and is great to quickly check your body temperature as well as measuring surface and room temperatures.

I have had this thermometer for just under 2 years. We don't get sick that often so don't use it a lot. However, when you need a thermometer, you need it to work at that time, not later when you can get more batteries or after you fiddle with it a lot. I can't speak to the accuracy, as who really knows if a thermometer is accurate or not if we aren't scientists in a lab? But it's very easy to use and I've liked it a lot. Over the past 4 months I've had two issues with it. First, I got a lot battery indicator so changed them. I didn't use the battery tester that time so can't draw conclusions. However, recently I could not turn on the device so took out the batteries. Cleaned them off, inserted, removed, repeated and finally could get it to work. Then the next time it again gave the low battery indication. REmoved them and tested the batteries. They were like new on the tester! Put them back in and again can't turn the device on. It's just not reliable to turn on or not. But when it works, I'm satisfied with it. As with any thermometer, you should use it when you are healthy and figure out your baseline temperature. This will be different on each individual thermometer so it's important to know your baseline on each. Only knowing that can you determine when you are running a low fever. Note that not everyone (or actually very few people) are 98.6 degrees when healthy.

Very handful and very easy to use

Da quando è nato mio figlio, questo termometro è diventato uno degli oggetti a cui non riesco più a rinunciare. L'ho preso quasi per caso, ma si è rivelato una delle scelte più azzeccate che abbia fatto. Il vantaggio più grande? La misurazione senza contatto. Mio figlio dorme, io avvicino il termometro alla sua fronte, e in un istante ho la temperatura. Nessun pianto, nessun risveglio, nessuno stress — né per lui né per me. Ero un po' scettico sulla precisione di un dispositivo a infrarossi, ma dopo averlo confrontato più volte con il termometro tradizionale ho dovuto ricredermi: le misurazioni sono costantemente affidabili e coerenti. L'utilizzo è semplicissimo: un tasto, un secondo, risultato immediato. Il display si illumina e cambia colore a seconda della temperatura rilevata, il che è comodissimo soprattutto di notte quando non si vuole accendere la luce. Apprezzo molto anche la funzione memoria, che mi permette di tenere traccia dell'andamento della febbre senza dover annotare nulla.
