An interesting take on an old story.
An interesting take on the old story with a smattering of artistic licence. Although the crucifixion as we were taught it is mentioned in the story, it is very brief & a sort of 'also ran' to the main events of the plot. For such a dark story I found it very easy reading as it doesn't push religion into the readers face in a preaching to the masses sort of way. It's just an story of rebellion against the conquering oppressors (the Romans), by people who's names are familiar from our school days. As a non-religious person I enjoyed the read and I will look for Book II in the series just to see where the story takes us.

Unusual and very enjoyable.
An unusual subject! I wouldn't normally read a book like this! But I thoroughly enjoyed the book. And would recommend that you read it too.

Interesting take on an old story. Not brilliantly written
Very readable fictional tale of the thief that was freed leading to the crucifixion of Jesus. Not well written so if you are easily annoyed by poor penmanship look elsewhere. If you enjoy a good swashbuckling yarn that you will quickly forget go for it!

A Wonderful Book
Barabbas is one of the zealot rebels who wants to free Israel of the Romans. Escaping to Khirbet Qumran after setting fire to the Romans barracks they find themselves guests of Nathaniel. Barabbas and Simon can’t sleep and wander the halls only to over hear a conversation about The Copper Scroll and the Maccabee’s Treasure. They swear and oath and become Protectors of the scroll. But others learn of the scroll and want to find it and the wealth it promises.Where to start. First off, I literally could not put this book down. It is fast paced and extremely well written. The details of the places makes you feel like you are there. The character development is also well done. Without giving away details I found some scenes surprising, even to the point where I felt chills run through me. I also cried at other scenes. This story takes place at the time of Jesus and that’s all I’m going to say. Sean Young is a writer worth reading. You will not be disappointed with this book.

Riveting!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The characters were believable, the plot was not predictable, & the editing was thorough; but the violence makes it gruesome & graphic in many places. My knowledge of the Bible greatly enhanced my enjoyment of Forged In Rage.I'd recommend this book to anyone who likes historic fiction, especially "clean" fiction--no graphic sex or blasphemy. However, as noted above, the violence is not for the squeamish.

Just finished the book and was upset that the second one wasn't out yet. Will be reading that one for sure.Very well written story set during the biblical times of Jesus but more of a parallel that crosses over toward the end. Thanks Sean Young for a well written and hard to out down book.

A Very Good Book
This is a very good book. It seems Biblical and historically accurate, as far as I know. I like this kind of book that brings the Bible and its times to life. The author did a very good job and I'm looking forward to reading the second installment in the series.

An excellent portrayal of the events following the crucifixion of Jesus of Nazareth and the secret of the Jewish golden scroll.

Not that great
Did not hold me at all. I found it mundane. If it doesn’t capture me in the first three chapters,I’m done.
