Worth the cost
I've practiced sports medicine for over two decades so when my own back began to act up, I got a chance to try a hand held focused massager myself. My wife bought a cheaper one for $49 and despite the good price, it wasn't very effective. Cheaper units vibrate a lot but don't have the deeper pistoning necessary for percussion of the muscles. I found I had to push down, which would stop the weaker unit. I took the plunge on this one and immediately found the quality of the unit and the quality of the massage so much better. The Thera-Gun is strong enough, there's no need to push down with any force at all. In fact just sliding it over a muscle is spasm provides great, vigorous massage from the weight of the unit alone. A bit of downward pressure barely slows the motor. The deeper (17mm?) pistoning of the head really impacts the muscles. I think anyone with the need for a gun type massager should consider the Thera-Gun. It works much better and will likely last longer than the cheaper units. From my view, unless you plan on not being around very long, you'll likely get a lifetime of use out of it. My clinics have used them on patients. Now I've had a chance to use one as well. It's been a life saver when my back says no, and my schedule says yes.

Beyond a massage tool
Theragun doesn’t feel like a massage, it feels like deep tissue vibration which you couldn’t get from a masseuse. Although nothing replaces the soothing feeling of a massage from a trained masseuse in my opinion (I feel like we’re hardwired that way), the massage gun does reach muscles and tendons, even feels like your bones are vibrating. I like to use it for chronic tightness in my hips, calves, and shoulders. It’s great for recovery post workout but after a good workout it’ll feel painful. Depending on your training, I like to lift heavy and body build: the theragun helps loosen muscles before a workout and helps me recover after one. It’s vibration can cause a tingling feeling when used on sore muscles (that feel ticklish) but if you angle it a certain way and hit the right trigger points you can really help your body heal & repair. I suffer from less tmj headaches since I’ve been using it for my traps and neck area. It’s a wonderful device, I’d highly recommend it. If you’re getting it for elderly folks please consult a doctor first, I think I read somewhere about elderly people being prone to blood clots should not use anything like this or should be careful with getting a real person massage etc.

Works And Worth Every Penny
Thought the price was a little high, but was swayed by the reviews and an article I read in Esquire about it, so took a chance and so glad I did. I've had chronic lower back pain - and repeated injuries - over the years. Nothing much seemed to help - MRIs, spinal docs, PT, chiropractors, meds, rest, heat, ice, etc. After my most recent injury, I wondered if maybe I just had horribly knotted/swollen muscles that needed to calm down. So I started hammering my lower back area with this thing and over the days all the muscles finally started to smooth out and relax and my pain went away. It's like you're hammering the muscles into submission. It's been amazing. Almost addictive. I would say just be careful with it and start off slowly - don't put on the hardest attachment and press it against you as hard as you can, etc. Start with the slowest setting and softest head and be very gentle with yourself until you get a feel for it.

Really loosened up my tense muscles
My neck and shoulder muscles are really stiff and tense and I get headaches because of them. I didn’t expect much from this massage gun but it really helped loosen up the muscles. I can feel the difference. The muscles feel much softer after using it. It feels like someone gave you a massage after using it. As to the sound, I didn’t find it as bad as some other people in the reviews. I can still watch tv while using it and am not rannoyed by it. I didn’t really continue using the app after the set up but it is good that it gives you this option because if you use the app, you can see the pressure you are pushing the gun so you know whether to distance it or not. Overall, really impressed with this massage gun. I’m glad I went for it. If you are like me with stiff muscles and headaches, I definitely would recommend you try it. The only downside of this, probably is the price. Quite expensive but it does work.

Worth It
I had one of the cheaper $50 massage guns and decided to give a pricier one from a name brand a try. I would never go back. This massage gun gets plenty of force when you ask for it (way more than the cheap ones will give you) and the handle design means you can reach your back by holding the back of the triangular grip. My only complaint is that it's much louder than I expected, but it's not so loud that your neighbors would hear it. The app connection is cool but I almost never use it, it might be more useful for people looking to get instructions on where to use the device and with what attachments. Absolutely worth the extra cost, would recommend this to anyone looking for pain relief or muscle recovery assistance.

Great for sore and tight muscles
I did a fair amount of research before investing in this version of the Theragun. For example, the next version up comes with exchangeable batteries and extra power. After using this one, I can’t imagine ever wanting more power. Every time I use it I end up feeling like over tenderized meat. The soreness and tension is much reduced and the relaxation afterward is amazing. I have a 12 month old son so I use it frequently on my low back and traps. I definitely recommend this model over the others which may have more features but are going to do the same thing.

Awesome product
This messager is GREAT. I was worried because the battery is not removable, and I figured if the battery were to ever die, the tool would become useless. I've owned this now for 3 years and it's still running like a champ. What's nice about this massage gun is that it has different intensity settings, and it comes with multiple tips. You are also able to buy more attatchments if you'd like a different massaging experience. I would recommend this product if you work out. The multiple grip positions allows you to give yourself a massage with ease.

Lower Back Cured!
Wow, what a fabulous self care tool! I have been dealing with pain and tightness on one side in my lower back the past several months and after using the Theragun Prime as directed via the app for that specific area for just 5 days (followed by some direct heat after each use) the pain and tightness is gone! I have spent a lot of money over the years on much less expensive massage products but this is The Best by far- the cost is high but you get what you pay for! The only thing that brought my lower back to calmness prior was an hour deep tissue massage so I figure the Theragun is less expensive than the weekly even monthly massage I would need to feel the same way: total relief!!!
