18 years of success with these rods
I started buying alumalloy rods back in 2006 I had to overhaul my big truck eighteen speed fine spline gearbox. This project almost ended in expensive disaster when one of the jacks slipped and bottom bolt broke off the bolt hole tab on the box. Well expensive then the rods were but I bought fifty of them because the were about 3$ A rod then. Cleaned up and ground the edges of both pieces about 1/4" bevel and used acetone to clean both the tab and the gear box corner. Then clamped the two pieces together and began heating with a propane torch working the rod once it began to melt on contact with the aluminum case. Do one corner then rotated to do opposing corner each with small initial weld. 1/3" each. Then I tipped case to fill the corners first then went back and completely filled the voids and left some excess for finishing with small grinder. Put it all back together and it is still in the truck over a million miles later and survived two overhauls since then.I have used these original rods up til last summer and they are still my go to for aluminum welding. The tensile strength of this alloy is stronger than aluminum itself. I have seen them used many times for radiator repair as well. I had to buy this set as I'm remodelling my lanai and its all aluminum framing and I expect they will work as they always have.REMEMBER TO BE SURE THE SURFACES TO BE WELDED ARE VERY VERY CLEAN! I'm also curious to see how the flux core perform as opposed to the solid core impurities should surface with the flux so I will follow up with the results if their trial run.

Ship this in A BOX, AMAZON.
The product was as advertised. The shipping method was HORRIBLE. This item needs to be shipped in A BOX........ NOT in a paper envelope. The first shipment showed up with an envelope with a hole in it but no rods. The SECOND one had the envelope torn completely open and was ONLY saved by the driver physically counting the rods before handing me the package

O.k. but not strong welds
Good for filling holes in Aluminum-- like leaky boat rivets-- but doesn't weld strong enough to hold two aluminum pieces together.

Excellent Function
I use this product for my small aluminum projects on a constant , using MAP gas with very good end product results. My reason for the 4 star review is due to price, mostly because I'm cheap and on a COVID budget, otherwise all is great for this item. Fast, easy to work with and clean once applied. Recommended to those in need of a good aluminum brazing rod, over the cheap imported "wanna' be".

It is worth the money you spent
Good product!Works easily with a torch, you can weld almost any thing provided you know how to manipulate the torch and the alumaloy rods with your hand.I recommend it!

Welding aluminum is a snap
I've used similar rods that never seemed to work like the pro was able to demonstrate. This rod it the cat's meow. Works a treat. My Bernz 0 Matic with Map gas was more than enough to make this product weld aluminum easily. Probably could have used my wife dessert Creme Broulie maker. I am sold on this product.
