i bought this cutter and many others to see what the best rescue cutter was for cutting rope bondage off in a hurry. for a simple test i used a pull scale and paracord to test each cutter i bought. i repeated cut test many times with this cutter and all cuts took between 25 and 34 lbs of force to cut the paracord. this cutter came with nicks in the blade and was barely sharp. a rescue cutter needs to be razor sharp! this wasnt even close. it was hard to hold as well. the best use i can think of for this cutter would be tie it to your belt and use it to cut fishing line, that way you cant lose it if dropped and you wont risk dropping a good knife in the water.

I work in an ER and read a review about someone using it to cut through clothes. Perhaps it will if you use a hacksaw motion. This tool is cumbersome to cut anything other chip bags. Stick with the trauma shears if you want to save yourself time.

This is a good strap cutter, but it is NOT the model pictured. There is no plastic component.
