When Derek Trucks (of The Derek Trucks Band) and Susan Tedeschi (formerly of The Susan Tedeschi Band) met and married, it was more than a civil union. They decided to mesh their music - and their bands - together to create their first love child The Revelator. In the process they found the perfect mix between Blues, Funk, Gospel and Rock, and The Revelator won a Grammy Award in 2011 for Best Blues Album. Everybody's Talkin', named after the song Harry Nilsson made famous in the film Midnight Cowboy, is their second album: a collection of fan favourites, traditionals and covers from heroes such as Stevie Wonder, Elmore James, Joe Cocker and Bobby Bland, plus the unreleased track 'Nobody's Free'. Music On Vinyl released this triple live-album filled with musical prowess in a beautiful 3-panel gatefold sleeve.Everybody's Talkin' is available as a limited edition of 1000 individually numbered copies on transparent blue vinyl.

Distortion in Recording?
In October we attended a Tedeschi Trucks show in Huntsville, Alabama and it was outstanding!! Anxious to continue the good feeling from listening to their live music I ordered this CD. First played it in my truck and heard a strange distorted sound during Midnight in Harlem starting around 8:32 through 9:49 under the guitar solo. I thought it was a mistake in the recording or mastering. Listened to it again on headphones at home and the distortion sounds worse. Could it be organ or horns flourishes that are over processed? Anyone else notice this? I'll try and compare it from other sources.Edit: OK, I'm wrong. Watched T and T perform the same song on a Crossroads DVD. The sound I am hearing is from Derek's technique of while some strings are under the slide during the solo the other lower strings are being banged by his thumb/hand during.. Love this group and disc. Hope there will be a concert video some day.

Not for Everyone
Trucks is a great guitar player and Susan Tedeski a very good singer. But the jams are not for everyone. Allman Brothers, as much as I loved them, would drag out songs in concert to the point people just wanted them to end. Sometimes the jams just need to be shorter. Still, T-T is a very talented group.

THIS IS SOME OF THE BEST MODERN DAY, LIVE IMPROVISED "JAM" BLUES ROCK AT IT' S VERY BEST PERIOD!!!
This is the Tedeschi Trucks Band (husband & wife), including a whole host of a total of 11 world class band members, performing modern day, live, improvisational (improvised) blues-rock,(including some "classic" cover songs), & "jam" rock, at its very, very best. This is the Tedeschi Trucks band follow up to their grammy award winning studio album "Revelator"On this live double album, the Tedeschi Trucks Band, takes live music, to where it has never gone before. They just let the music flow & follow the "vibe". They are totally in "sync", with one another, and the beautiful music, just flows.Susan Tedeschi's Blues Vocals are "Awesome", Derek Trucks electric guitar playing (including slide guitar play), is totally "Awesome". The rest of the band members are also, simply "awesome". This is some outstanding live music, period. My favorite song is "Midnight in Harlem" (Swamp Raga Intro with "Little Martha"). The song "Little Martha" was written by the late/great Duane Allman, and this "Intro" is definietly a tribute to him. This is definitely Album Oriented Music, where you just put in both the CD's into your CD player, and just let the Music "take you away".Thanks, and I hope this review has been helpful.

Really good
It is a lot of fun to hear a soul / rock revue. This band is akin to the Delaney Bramlett bands with many performers on it and Eric Clapton sitting in. It has that vibe. There is just kind of a slow groove to the whole album. Susan Tedeschi's vocal and the band's performance on Darling Be Home Soon is worth the cost of entrance. It's warmingly beautiful. There are some really good guitar jams and interesting paths the band takes. Lots of fun.

Tenders hi-Trucks Band Live Album
Excellent stuff.....first rate modern blues with some moderate jazz overtones from jam band lineage. Susan Tedeschi provides bitter-sweet vocals with complete understanding of the blues.....delicate when needed & gravelly when called for. She also lays down some creditable guitar licks. Overlaid on the top of a fine band is the distinctive insightful and highly enjoyable guitar work of her husband, Derek Trucks - nephew of Allman Brothers Band drummer Butch Trucks. Since playing with the ABB as a child prodigy since about age 10, Derek plays with a maturity and skill well beyond his years. His hard-edged blues solos & slide work is tinged with a jazz appreciation. The overall result is a powerful band with outstanding presence, musicality and well above average skill level. This particular album provides the added benefit of live performance....my personal favorite form....demonstrating the tightness of the band, the outright skill of the players & the spontaneity and fun of hearing terrific musicians playing terrific music. Far, far superior to much of the s*** that passes for good (at least 'popular') music these days. I find it difficult to provide excessive praise or overstate my high recommendation for this excellent album. Do yourself a favor.....add this to your collection and enjoy it over & over again.

Good/Great people!! Great live CD!!!
Very incredible band that somehow manages to cover many genre's. I watched Derek grow up,and was lucky enough to have a great conversation with him when he was a very young lad. With all that was going on around him backstage his head was screwed on amazingly well for any age----not to mention he was barely 15!!! He has stuck with his morals, and his wife seems to be his true soulmate. He seems not to take anything himself too seriously---except behind his music. Go Derek, family and awesome voiced Susan. So happy for him & family :0

Tedeschi Trucks Band Live
I knew of Derek Trucks from his work with the Allman Brothers. I hear a lot of Duane and Dickey in him but he has his own nuances which I really like. I bought this album solely because I fell in love with "Midnight in Harlem" as I heard them perform it on Clapton's Crossroads. Their performance prompted me to buy the Blu Ray of Crossroads and their Tedeschi Trucks Band Live CD. Derek's solo along with his wife Susan's vocals are great, but Derek's solo truly moves me every time I hear this track. I give that track alone 5 stars and it is now one of my all time favorites. Tedeschi's vocals are good and I didn't realize how good she really is, I am now a fan. The rest of the live album's tracks are good but not the level of 'Midnight', but then how could they be? (My opinion only.)

TTB IS SUPER
My very favorite piece on this CD is Midnight in Harlem, but in all truthfulness, I love ALL of the cuts. I saw them in concert about a year ago and they are THE BEST ! ! ! HOORAY ! ! !

THE BEST BAND TO HIT BLUES IN YEARS !
Derek Trucks is the best slide guitarist there is, he's had a fabulous band for some years now,in fact since his teens. Then he married Susan Tedeschi, one great female blues artist who also happens to play some pretty meab guitar.A couple of years ago they joined forces, produced 'Revelator' a studio album that won countless awards, now we get a double album recorded on their first tour.Tracks were chosen by the fans, and we have an absolute winner here. Some songs from the album but their takes on things like Ramsey Lewis's'wade I The Water', blues classic 'Rollin' and Tumblin' and John sebastion's 'Darling Be Hme Soon' really lift this album to new heights. From their oen album 'Midnight In Harlem'(best song in 2011 for my money) and 'Bound For Glory' just tear the tiles off in their absolute brilliance. Most of the songs are quite long, but how they develop them Susan Tedeschi's voice along with co vocalist Mike Matheson , the amazing horn section. This is not a small band but it's so tight,so full of some of the best musicians around today mark this album as utterly unmissable.Derek Trucks toured a few years ago with Eric Clapton's band and folk were asking 'Who is he', raving about his guitar playing,he also tours with The Allman Brothers Band, which is one of the world's greatest gigging and jam bands. So all that can be said here is this is an album that must nbe heard by a band if there are any rights should be filling arenas and stadiums around the world, who knows they soon could be.

Capturing my memories of Vienne 2014.................
The Tedeschi Trucks Band was one of those groups I'd read about but always suspected might be a bit conservative in comparison to the kind of guitar heroes in my collection which includes the likes of John Scofield, Bill Frisell, John Abercormbie and Mary Halvorson. Throw in jazz anti-hero Jeff Parker in to the mix and you would seem to have all bases covered for creative guitar playing. Well, having caught the TTB play live at this year's Vienne Jazz Festival my casual dismissal of their music was a huge miscalculation as they proved to be one of this year's highlights. Billed as part of the blues night alongside Buddy Guy, the music proved to be hugely polished and professional. Delivered by an eleven piece band, the concert seemed to feature one quality song on top of the other. Tight as an ensemble as well as allowing the musicians to stretch out in their solos, I was reminded of a number of excellent big bands that I have caught over the years. Granted that the band is dominated by Truck's wonderful slide guitar and Susan Tedeschi's smoky voice, the band seems to have it's own style which captures blues, funk and country yet this is all captured with a jazz sensibility which is important to me. If you are coming from a jazz background, there is enough real music on this double Cd to keep you more than satisfied - if the terrific grooves and energy hasn't already grabbed you. Having snapped up some of their recordings, this one really captures what the band sound likes whereas the studios sessions are more produced. There are moments where things are overlong ("Uptight" is allowed to ramble on, for example) but their is an energy about this music which is sometimes missing from live sets. The tune selection is very good with "Midnight in Harlem" being my favourite. I was pretty surprised by the funky treatment of "Everybody's talking" which re-invented this song from it's maudlin origins. Most importantly, this album captures for me exactly why this band was so exciting when I heard them play at Vienne. This is a really terrific record.

... heard them but saw them on U Tube and liked their performances
Interesting band-first time I'd heard them but saw them on U Tube and liked their performances. As its live, the performance may be over instrumental for some-i.e. long instrumentals. They over instrumentalise Stevie Wonder's "Uptight" in my opinion. But otherwise an incredible tight band with, of course, Derek Trucks' guitar playing virtuosity. I don't think they exploit Susan Tedeschi's vocal abilities as much as they could-a superb soul and blues voice. And a shame they don't include her classic "Angel from Montgomery" But an excellent gig nevertheless. Well worth it.

Everybody SHOULD be talkin'
about this magnificent band and this album. Been a fan of Susan Tedeschi for a long time and was lucky to see Derek Trucks in his days with Clapton. If your streching the songs out you better be (a) highly musical and (b) do the covers justiceThe title track is absolutely 10 star reconstruction of the song and Ms Tedeschi could be mistaken for early Bonnie Raitt, that's how good her vocal is. Darlin' be home soon is one of my all time favouirite Lovin Spoonful songs and a 10 minute version worried me but hey a very soulful vocal and some beautiful guitar work makes it one of the best covers I've heard.End of the day you'll love it or hate it I suppose but this is one hell of a band and a truly great singer on top form

Great band.
Great band, long tracks and a mixture of styles. My only slight criticism is that I would have liked to have heard more of Susan Tedeschi, I just love her voice, so versatile.

Alive & kicking
I bought this album having previously had the studio version. The live performance of Tedeschi Trucks is as good as many bands achieve in the studio. These are top grade musicians, the Derek Trucks band have been around long enough to establish an enviable reputation & the addition of Derek's wife, Susan Tedschi with her powerful flawless voice raises the bar considerably.

Bliss
This is a band which has got under my skin. I have not yet had the pleasure of seeing them live and whilst I understand the economics of touring such a large ensemble of superb musicians I would remind promoters that appreciative audiences exist in the UK outside London. On the strength of this offerring I know that I and like minded people here in the North of England would not be disappointed. I particularly love the version of "Everybody's Talking" and whilst I feel that "Uptight" doesn't work as well as it should everything else is on the money. A righteous noise and an uplifting experience.

Not what I expected
Having seen this band on YouTube playing blues I decided to buy this CD but was dissapointed that it was more country than blues.
