Itsy bitsy spider
I didn’t know they had written any other verses until I read this book so that was exciting but the artwork is just beautiful. I love it!!

Beautifully written and illustrated!
Had this book when my kids were little (in paperback format) and was so happy to find it in a library binding. It takes a familiar rhyme and adds 5 more verses and illustrates it beautifully.

Cheery, colorful illustrations, entertaining verses
This board book has the verse of The Itsy Bitsy Spider, plus some additional ones penned by the author. "The itsy bitsy spider / Climbed up the kitchen wall. Swoosh! went the fan / And made the spider fall. / Off went the fan. / No longer did it blow. / So the itsy bitsy spider back up the wall did go." The text for that verse is spread over four pages with cheerful colorful illustrations. The pictures are quite charming and very vivid. As the fan blows the spider away, you can see the movement in the crumpled napkins and flowers and spider being tossed about; it's not a still picture. The illustrations are really alive in this book. And there are also the verses where the spider climbs up a pail, and then a rocking chair ("Up jumped a cat / And knocked her in the air."), and finally up a tree. This is a very well done children's book, and I would recommend it for any preschoolers, especially in board book format. In fact, I purchased another copy to give to my nieces and nephews.

Our First of Many...
Itsy Bitsy Spider was our first Iza Trapani book. Four years later, we have a great collection of books written by Mrs. Trapani and we love them all. Itsy Bitsy is a little bit different than the others, as the words and vocabulary are more simplistic and appeal to the younger toddler. This book was a favorite for both our girls when they were about 15 months to 24 months. They were greatly amused that the cute little spider was so busy. Our family enjoys reading and singing all of Mrs. Trapani's books. Some of her books flow a little better than others but the illustrations are beautiful in all of them. Itsy Bitsy has always been my husband's favorite but I like Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star. Our 5 year old will argue that Jingle Bells is the best and our 2 year old flip flops between I'm a Little Teapot and Shoo Fly as her favorites.

Great story for Toddlers
I'm a Registered Early Childhood Educator, and the first day I brought this book in it was loved by the children. I now have children who bring it to be the minute I step foot in the classroom first thing in the morning.
