The element (peltier plate) is a resistive device, so it's going to draw a fair amount of current and that'll cause the supply to get warm. However, I have been using both of mine for a while now and have not had any issues. No odors, no signs of melting, etc. I would make sure to leave space around the supply for ventilation, but only to be on the safe side. I doubt there would be an issue if you didn't leave enough space, though maybe the lifespan of the supply could potentially be shortened. Also, the adapter does have an ETL mark on it, so that means it has been tested for safety. **Q: Is this a fire hazard if you keep it on 24/7?** A: No, at least not yet. Mine is kept on 24/7. seems to me that is the only truly effective way. I have to empty it every 2-3 weeks. **Q: What does a blinking blue light mean? No fan.** A: Great question! That flashing blue light means your water tank is full and needs to be emptied. To empty, remove the tank from that unit and then remove the black stopper on the top of the tank to dump the collected water out.
