Works as stated, though only lasted around a year before failing.
I got a second monitor for doing classwork and online classes on and it had a DVI port on it so I got this to connect my laptop to the monitor. Worked right away with no issues or fiddling around. I got it in September 2019 and in late October 2020 I noticed the monitor would sometimes flicker if I bumped my laptop and now in early December 2020 I have to have the cable between the mini-DisplayPort end and the DVI port ends at a certain curve (not to straight, not to tight of a bend) or else the monitor stops displaying anything and thinks its been unplugged as it's no longer receiving a signal. I suspect simply that the wiring in the cable part is cheep and tiny so it frayed internally at some point. Not a huge deal since it's only like $7-$8 to replace it, just a bit annoying that I do need to replace it after only a year but I guess you get what you pay for.

Works perfectly
This adapter allowed me to make use of a perfectly functioning older DVI-equipped monitor with a newer Mini DP output video card. Works perfectly -- kept the older display out of a landfill and didn't have to buy a new one.Be aware -- you need to push the Mini DP connector ALL THE WAY INTO THE PORT on the video card. It seemed as if it was fully inserted when I first tried to connect the display but required additional pressure for it to fully "snap in" and connect.

Works with my MacBook!
Now that I'm WFH for the foreseeable future, I was hoping this adapter would connect my laptop (2015) to an old Apple Cinema Display to give me an extra desktop space/screen to ease eye strain and it did. Plugged it in and it worked right from the start. Great item for the money and I would buy it again if needed!

Worked well, resonably priced.
Worked well, reasonably priced. I used two of these adapters on a Mac Mini to convert the two mini display ports to DVI cables. One monitor worked and the other one didn't. I replaced the DVI cables and the one monitor still didn't work. It could have been the monitor or limitations of the Mac Mini. It wasn't the adapters. Anyway I decided to trade the Mac Mini for a Macbook Pro and am returning the two adapters. The Macbook Pro will serve my needs better than a Mac Mini and I no longer need the adapters. I did not do any further trouble shooting. I would recommend the Mini DP to DVI adapters.

Connects to MacBook Air
This adapter plugged right in to the cable to an older monitor and right into the lightning port on my MacBook Air from 2013. Seems to work perfectly, and it seems quite sturdy. Does what it's meant to do!

Did not work with my Lenovo ThinkPad
The Mini DP to DVI, Rankie Gold Plated Mini DisplayPort (Thunderbolt Port Compatible) to DVI Male to Female Adapter Converter did not work for me with my Lenovo ThinkPad even though my model was listed in the compatibility list as compatible. Ultimately I ended up having to return this product and I ended up just purchasing a Lenovo converter which ended up working perfectly for my needs. When I used this one my monitor would come on briefly but would turn off if I switched monitors or it would crash the computer completely with a graphics card error. It is all together possible that the one that I received may have been faulty since all of the other reviews are so positive but I did not have the time to re-test another one. The product was made out of quality materials and the connectors were solid. The mini-display port connection was solid to my laptop and the DVI connection was solid as well. I would not recommend this product to anyone with a Lenovo as it did not work with my Lenovo ThinkPad consistently. My Lenovo is running Windows 7 and I made sure that it was using the latest graphics card drivers and still did not have any success on getting it to work consistently.

Works great. $50 really??
I don't know enough about mini DP to DVI to review this properly. I do know it worked great hooking up a ViewSonic monitor to my laptop as a third screen. I also learned that any monitor connected via USB won't be able to use f.lux or any other programs to control contents. So I can't use my speakers on the monitor. I also think $50 is way to high of a price for this. But, I have three monitors working in 2 days shipping time so I paid for the convenience.

One of the few that works with passive DVI extenders
I got these for one purpose: to reuse the passive DVI extension units (IOGear GVE200) with a new system that only has miniDP ports. The PC is in a rack and the monitors are in another room. To get new extension units would cost an arm and a leg. So it makes more sense to get a few cheap miniDP to DVI adapters instead. After testing units from Tripplite, Startech and IOGear, none passed with acceptable results. The Tripplite miniDP to DVI in conjunction with the GVE200 produced a black screen (no signal). The Startech and IOGear would work intermittently, and would have no signal upon system restart.I took a chance on Amazon and decided to try one from Rankie which had glowing reviews. Being 1/2 to 1/3 the cost of the big brands, I had little to lose. Without much expectation, the Rankie adapter worked perfectly without a single drop no matter how many times the PC was restarted. The display quality was excellent considering the video signal has been converted from miniDP to DVI, then from DVI to 60 feet of Ethernet cable, and then converted back to DVI.The build and packaging is really excellent. To the guy that said his adapter was scratched up/used looking, I think he may be referring to the protective film that wraps the unit. Removing the film would show the pristine glossy surface. I kept mine on for .. protection.Overall, I'm really glad I got these adapters and this has been a positive experience. I will definitely be looking into this brand for all adapter and cabling needs.

Worked Great
Worked great. I have been buying a few different adapters for my mid 2012 MacBook Pro to connect it to a bigger screen. This was by far the best buy.
