But we are able to feed it and will keep it throughout it's little butterfly life! All of my kids found this super educational and cool! I will say that my daughter wanted to hold and handle her caterpillars but the instructions say to keep them inside the container until they form their chrysalis'. I bought 10 and received 12. They are amazing little creatures. We released 10 this week. Sadly 2 have deformed wings and cannot be released. I am keeping them fed in an enclosure to live out their 2-4 week life span.
