Woefully inadequate lighting by itself...
Man, oh man, are these bulbs pathetic in the lighting department. This one is just as crummy as the 15-watt for light output and is even more disappointing as I thought the increase in wattage would suffice. Wrong, wrong, wrong. I have a beautiful-looking 10-gallon black hex acrylic aquarium that I love to admire but, unfortunately, it has a lighting fixture that is incandescent. Darn it, this can pose problems (heating the tank when you don't want it, melting the cover, etc.) but there is little I can do except not use it. I have found a solution, however, in the ViaAqua 18in 3.3 watt Blue & White LED Light & Airstone. It provides two functions: aeration and moonlight that should be really cool. I think I'm going to send this bulb back (just like the 15-watt ones) and keep the 15-watt clear bulb that came with the aquarium kit. It is adequate light-wise, but not the colored light I desire. Good 'ol Amazon and their wonderful return policy. I use if often! Oh yeah. I have Amazon Prime and will receive the LED light in two days for free. Awesome!Update: I made the mistake of ordering this product again because I thought it was the best option available to me. Wrong. The blue coating on the bulb had burned off on the middle third and was more light green than blue. The moonlight or blue light effect became unsatisfactory; therefore, I returned it. I am currently awaiting the credit to my gift certificate account and at least a refund request was accepted.

Who doesn't want their tarantula being disturbed by natural light?
Excellent! I plugged it in, it worked!I was hoping to get a new light for my tarantula considering they're mostly nocturnal creatures. What better way to keep the light out of their eyes than getting a red light, which supposedly is better for wildlife as it doesn't scare them as much as a natural light.
