Enough With The Ducks!!!!
I love these stories....Bree is a fun (if somewhat too insecure for these times) heroine, the plot lines are great, and the men are smokin' and mysterious....but every time there is a "duck" or a "ducking" or a "duck me" it takes me right out of the story and thinking what duck? The woman is 40 years old. If she's old enough to think it, she's old enough to say it. Otherwise, clean up her language if it's a game changer for this genre. It's seriously ducking bothering me.

I LOVE Bree and her crew ♥️
Midlife Demon Hunter, book 3 of The Fourty Proof Series, was a bit deeper and darker and more kick a$$ than the first two. With each new book in this series Shannon Mayer is showing us more strength and growth in Bree. She is becoming more powerful in her own rights as she is discovering more about herself and her capabilities, as she sheds the lies and misconceptions not only others but she herself held as truth about who Breena O’Rylee really is. In Demon Hunter Bree comes face to face with not just her trickiest job yet but also the darkest and scariest creature she has met so far.In a battle to save her self and everyone she holds dear, Bree sets out to find answers and fight the evil trying to take over Savannah only now she has a new tag along that may or may not be her undoing. As darkness and evil make plays to take Bree out, she is faced with betrayal, surprises and new potential friends and allies along the way, I can’t wait to see what happens next!!!!*** note this one ends on a bit of a cliffhanger, not an issue for me but just a warning to those who tend to get upset about themStill, I give it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ and recommend to anyone who loves a strong female who has zero ducks left to give and is proving age is just a number that is only limiting to those with small minds 😉

Goblins, Faeries, Demons ... Oh my!
I didn't realize how much I missed Bree and her friends till I started this book. Bree is definitely one of my favorite Shannon Mayer heroines. I love the sass, the I don't care attitude, and the wisdom and experience that comes from being "past your prime (let's face it Bree and any woman over 30 are just now in their prime!)." Bree gets a small breather before all hell breaks loose again (or should I say all the ducks start waddling in every direction). The next job is protecting some documents for a goblin for 3 days. Easy peasy, right? Right?!? Yeah, not so much. The documents aren't what they seem and some people will go to any length to get them. No one is safe. Least of all Bree and her friends. Things get hot and cold with both Corb and Crash, and are confusing. Are either of their feelings true or are they just using and trying to manipulate Bree? At this point, I'm no longer sure which one I'm rooting for. There is no lull in the action with this book. It has the same fast paced, can't put the book down action as the other books. I love this series. It is one I will most certainly read over and over.

Midlife Demon Hunter
**MINOR SPOILERS**This book was the third book in a series by the author. I do not think it works well as a standalone and would recommend reading the books in order. I had read the first two back to back, but read this one after a delay because it hadn’t been released. I remembered some but not all the references to the prior books, so I think jumping into the series with this book would be difficult.I enjoyed the humor in the book. It was fast paced with lots of action. The main character, Bree, is honest and cares deeply for her friends. She finds creative solutions for getting out of situations. I do think the author spends too much time on the Corb vs Crash dynamic. The book has an ensemble cast of very interesting characters. The dialogue is realistic as well.Bree’s abilities have developed over the series. It is partly explained by the fact they are expanding and they kick in at midlife. They are new to her. However, it does seem like they are getting surprisingly broad and sometimes convenient. She participates in a duel and the way it ends is played for laughs that diminishes the moment.I plan on buying the next book in the series.

Fantastic characters and story!
The third installment in this series does not disappoint. Breena has been fired from the Hollows Group and with her friends she's set up shop for herself. She's living her her grandmother's house, with her grandmother's ghost and one of the men she's attracted to.She takes on a job for a goblin, just a simple one, hide some papers for a few days. What could possibly go wrong? Nothing right?Get this book to see what happens with Breena, her friends, the bigfoot, a siren, a fairy and two amazingly hot guys, oh and we can't forget Robert right? You won't want to put this one down.A great series, and the next one can't come soon enough.

Must read
Another home run book from Shannon Mayer! Breena has quickly become my favorite character of all time on Shannon’s! In this installment Breena is still attempting to navigate the shadow work from the outside.Cut off from the Hollows group and the SCE here and her friends have made their own little group and are hoping for a case. Of course a case falls into her lap in the form of a cast out goblin needing help. Just hearing the words cast out causes Breena to emphasize and take the case. Of course as usual the case is more than it appears and forces Breena to the brink of death yet again to solve it.Very happy that Breena stopped referring to Alan as ‘himself’ and now has evolved to just telling him to shut up, much more mature! Many relationships changed and evolved in this book, some shockingly and one I can see a bit of foreshadowing on. I can’t wait to see where the story leads us next, other than a new city of course!

It's so ducking hilarious!
This third instalment of Forty Proof series is even better than previous books if that's even possible because Shannon Mayer never disappoints and always surprises you in so many ways! I absolutely love Breena and her crew especially Robert. She is one real kick ass woman with no ducks to give! She is hilarious even if her insecurities came back as a crushing blow along with her ex. She still needs to learn to see herself as others see her.I enjoyed every minute spent in this amazing book even I had to read it just by pieces during my short breaks mostly because I couldn't wait to dive fully into story. That was a torture! I highly recommend this entire series to everyone!

What an excellent read.. You don't have to be a paranormal enthusiast to enjoy this.
There are very few books that I can actually shout at and this was one of them. For heavens sake Bree "We need to talk" could have meant anything and in this case probably meant how she had been seriously let down. The book hasnt been out long and I don't want to give too much away. It's a very good read and I particularly love the repeating characters. The reader cannot help but be involved in the gangs lives and also Brees almost crippling lack of self esteem. I wanted to shake her. More please Shannon, more more more. Love this.

Brilliant!!!
I loved this book and really need the next one now!! I'm kinda rooting for either Crash or someone we haven't met yet to be Breena's leading man! I have suspicions about Robert although I'll keep them to myself as I'm probably wrong! I'm also really wanting to know what happened to her Gran & parents! I can't wait for the next book!

Another amusing page turner
I'm really hoping the next book starts giving some answers to what Bree's magic is & what is going on with Crash, he blows so hot & cold. Starting to love Robert sure he'll be in the next one. Be great if whole team is needs to work together to solve what's going on.
