Growing to Show: How to Grow Prize Winning African Violets

This book as a lot of information to help you raise violets. You don't need to intend on showing violets to benefit from this book.

This book was recommended to me to help solve some of my African violet problems. I found information in this book that helped, but the book is way over-priced for the amount of information you get - lacking! I see now why there are so many of these same title books for sale USED!

I was told about this text by a member of the local African Violet society. I mentioned that I wanted a book for beginners.This book is very thorough but geared toward the advanced or experienced grower. For this reason, I found it somewhat overwhelming.I'm looking for another book for a beginner!

This book has since been updated, so the newer edition would probably be the better purchase, but this edition is still very useful. Some of the pesticides and products mentioned have since been replaced with more current products, but the growing instructions, the showing information, etc. are very useful and still relative.

The pictures are simple but the information is great. She definitely knows about the African Violet and how to grow them. Recommend to others wanting basic information on the African Violet.

Could someone please publish a paperless edition. It does not matter that the publication date precedes the use of LEDs.

Hi there. This book is great. I have had violets since I was a little girl and am now much, much older and still have a violet collection stemming (pardon the pun) from miniature violets, trailing to large violet plants. This book is great and I highly recommend. But please do your research before you purchase a used book from a used book seller. You can buy this book for $16.00 from [...] brand new and at [...] (American Violet Society website for 16.00--brand new) and on this amazon marketplace used book website, the price ranges from $27 to $100. I hate to bash this website as I have found very good deals and have made many purchases, especially books and music, but these prices are outrageous and reflects unconscientious (and that is putting it as nicely as I can) salespeople intending to benefit greatly from unsuspecting buyers. Please always either google books you are interested in or try websites that reflect the interest in the purchase you are making. There is also a violet magazine you can purchase at these 2 websites. I have not researched that here. But please take your time. Shame on these sellers for trying to scam innocent buyers!
