Easy fix for 2001 Jeep Wrangle TJ 4wd linkage
I just installed this on my daughter's 2001 TJ. It seems like many have a hard time installing the bushings. I did the job in 30 minutes. Two hints to make your life easier. 1) Remove the bracket on the chassis by unscrewing the bolts under the carpet by the center console. 2) Use a heat gun, directing heat to the barbed side of the bushing, while at the same time, pushing it in with a solid object like a socket or wrench. When pushing the shafts into the bushings, also use a heat gun. A small, precise heat gun is better, but a larger one will work; just be careful not to melt the bushing. A little silicon grease does not hurt either.

Great product - lengthy install process in TJ
Great parts completely solved the problem. Please note that it damn near impossible to install these bushings with the mechanism under the truck. The bushings are very hard nylon need to to be pressed in and there is not enough room to do so with a c-clamp. I had to remove the console, lever mechanism completely from inside the jeep, the body mount bracket, the t-case mount bracket and the t-case shifter arm to be able to properly replace the bushings. took 2 & 1/2 to 3 hours with adjustment time

90 percent correct
There was one bushing that didn't seem to fit. It went into this plate bolted to the transfer case - not the shift arm, but just forward of it. Anyway, I couldn't get any of the bushings included to fit in that plate properly. Finally with a heat gun and a lot of profanity I got one in there & then with more heat and more expletives I got the link arm in there. Definitely harder than it's supposed to be. Just the same, this kit has now fixed two Jeeps - one mine, one my father in law's. We're both happy, many a bumpy mile later.

Cheap plastic bushings
The brass bushing is the part I really needed but also tried to use the black and green bushings but they are a hard plastic and not anything like the original jeep bushings and the black one broke when I was putting the shift rod into it. I ended up just using my old bushings but the brass one fit fine and seems like it'll be ok.

Crown automotive linkage repair kit for transfer case
Although the parts are simple and placement aren’t too complicated , the whole job is . To do this job properly , you will have to pick up the rug on the drivers side floor to get to four screws to unbolt a bracket , to release the linkage control rod , to install the new bushing bracket and seals . You may have to remove the drivers seat to pick up the rug . Don’t forget to lubricate with chassis grease before putting together the boot , spring , bushing bracket and shaft seal . Pop out the linkage rods and replace the three supplied plastic bushings . Make certain to use penetrating fluid to loosen the four screws on the threads on the underside of the vehicle . The screw heads are inside , the threads are underside . You don’t want them breaking and complicating the job anymore than it is already . Once everything is back together , the shift lever rod adjustment must be made properly . Consult the manual for proper adjustment procedure . Take necessary precautions to avoid getting debris in your eyes . Have plenty of light while working .
