Tengchi RCA to HDMI Converter, AV to HDMI Adapter | Composite to HDMI Support 1080P PAL/NTSC For PS1, PS2, PS3, STB, Xbox, VHS, VCR, DVD Players

I grabbed this Tengchi RCA to HDMI converter so we could hook up older devices to a newer TV without extra drama. Setup is basically plug and play: RCA cables in, HDMI out, pick the right input on the TV and it fires right up with stable picture and no weird flicker. It’s small enough to hide behind the TV, powered by a simple USB cable, and it saves older DVD players or game systems from going in the trash. If you’ve got legacy gear you still want to use with a modern HDMI‑only screen, this little box does exactly what it promises.

I have an old Sylvania VHS/DVD combo player (with RCA connectors - white, red, yellow), and I needed to connect it with a newer HDMI TV. After researching, I came across this RCA to HDMI converter. I appreciate the input from other reviewers, who alerted that customers must furnish their own power supply block to connect to the 5V/1A power supply cable that is included with the converter. Fortunately, I already had an extra power supply block on hand. It took less than five minutes to connect this converter, and I'm happy to report that it works like a charm!

This worked out pretty well with my PS2 to Samsung Q series tv. No upscale or anything like that. If you’re looking for something that just gets you hooked up to play, this is fine in my opinion.

The converter works well. It doesn’t have any issues with lag or flickering screen, and it was a good option with my budget. However, it seems that the visuals are extremely downgraded. For example, I use my Wii with it, and the image had an odd blur to it. (I did perform a control test on the original tv I used my Wii with, and the same picture quality problem persisted.) I don’t know what causes this issue, but it does slightly diminish the experience. Except for that headache, it’s a decent product.

The RCA to HDMI Converter just worked! The old VCR didn't open at first, but after I jarred loose the game disc that somebody had stuffed in, the VCR picture came through perfectly through the HDMI cable. Description on Amazon was accurate and the instructions were fine (and obvious). I used RCA patch cords and a USB plug-in from my gear box, and didn't need the HDMI cable. Recommended.

The product does as is advertised, but it must be noted that is all it does. Let me begin by saying I purchased this product to connect 3 old consoles to a 2022 4K Roku Smart TV. The consoles were an original Xbox, early model PS2 and a Nintendo Gamecube. For this review I have not tested the Gamecube yet. This converter itself works flawlessly with the Xbox and PS2; no issues with functionality. However, picture quality is in question. I must be clear: this device DOES NOT upscale anything. It simply takes the RCA outputs from a device and runs it through an HDMI connector. Nothing more. The default signal quality the device outputs, is the signal quality that will output on the display of your choice. The picture quality on the PS2 is blurred. The picture quality on the Xbox is less blurred. I found it was better to set the switch on the converter to 720p, rather than 1080p, because that actually improved my image quality on both consoles to a minimum degree. To further test, I found an old 1080p flatscreen (pre-2010 model) in my parents garage and hooked my PS2 up to it through the AV ports and found the image quality to not be too far off from what my 4K TV was displaying. Therefore, I must assume this is not the converters fault, but the fault of the low resolutions these old consoles output. The image quality is probably the best I'm going to get. One thing I should note is that my 4K TV upscales low resolution outputs up to 4K, which may make image quality better or worse. I experimented with my TV's settings and found a middle ground between crap and average quality, but good enough to play my old games without developing a migraine from eye strain. I think the item is a bargain for the price. You could easily hook up multiple devices with this converter. I found other converters on Amazon that did the same thing, some even had connectors for specific game systems, but they either had sketchy reviews or were ridiculously overpriced. And considering what I mentioned about a device's default signal output, I doubt they could really do much better than this one. Whether you're running a device's output through RCA cables and into an HDMI converter, or a device's output straight into an HDMI converter, the result would be the same. It simply depends on what display and device you plan to hook this converter up to. Lower resolutions screens like 1080p or 720p would most likely fair better than what I used. So yes, I do recommend this device. It does the job and nothing more. Just don't expect it to magically make your lower resolution devices crystal clear and super sharp. The result is dependent on the display you choose. Word of advice: when you are done using this converter for the day, be sure to disconnect it from the power source. It continues to run and heat up even after all devices connected to it are off.

You have to plug this into power. Which it might state somewhere but I really didnt see it. It works fine though

Gets the job done! I can’t really speak on the quality because I’m not used to seeing how low res vhs is haha.

regret buying this... does not work at all! cannot return bcos the box was torn and had been thrown away. also made in china.

Somehow the slot to put in the power cable has broken and the usb part has come loose. You can hear it rattling inside the box.
