They work great! Instant results!
These strips are one of those products that can tell you really important things at very low cost. And so I cannot recommend them enough if you're on a keto diet as these are indispensable! They are very quick to respond and provide a result for the presence of ketones in your urine. Ketones tell you that you're burning fat for fuel. The fat might be your stored fat or the fat in your diet. But regardless, some people have a very hard time switching from sugar-burning to fat-burning exclusively (most of us do both automatically, but burning sugar is easier for the body), and these strips can tell you if you've made the switch. This matters very much for those looking to burn fat off their bodies, because once you've switched to fat burning, you can lower your calories while remaining in ketosis and lose weight painlessly with little hunger. This is the beauty of the low carb diets you hear about. They are satisfying while feeling very little hunger, which allows you to cut your calories to lower levels than on carb loaded diets. In case you've not noticed, sugary and carby foods *increase* hunger... but you can nip that in the bud by eating low carb, and measure your fat burning with these strips! Studies have shown that low carb diets are more effective for losing actual fat because of these reasons. Less hunger, better adherence and satiation for the duration of the diet, and with low insulin levels, better fat burning.Anyone who thinks they can't do Atkins type diets because they get tired of high protein foods, keep in mind that the goal is not high-protein, it is moderate amounts with low carbs and high fats. Fat does not make you fat without insulin. Eat plenty of greens and vegetables and the boredom issue should not exist. Also, even if you slip out of ketosis for a while, you can always go back into it. Nothing says you can't eat carbs, just dont' do it with fats or you will deposit those more readily. Food combining diets were all the rage in the 90's as it was discovered that sugar/simple carbs and fats together are what make us fat...but I digress...I highly recommend these strips for their quick and easy readings in describing your level of ketosis, critical data for those looking to burn fat the most delicious way possible!

These strips are awesome - Make sure you put silica packets in them so they don't go bad
Love these strips, have been using them since 2018. You'll see reviews of people complaining that they go bad fast and become useless. That's because they're not intelligent. They don't understand that you of course should be putting silica packets into the canister to absorb moisture and prolong the lifespan of the strips. You can buy a pack of 100 silica packets for cheap, right here on Amazon. Come on people. The jar of strips I had last purchased in November of 2024 was still as fresh as new and working perfectly right through this month, July of 2025, thanks to the silica packets. Used up my last test strip and just bought another new jar. Made sure to put new silica packets in there, and I know I'll be good to go for the rest of the year. It's common sense. These strips are highly moisture sensitive. So do everything possible to reduce moisture. If you do that, these strips will be your best friend. ;)

Accurate, affordable, and easy to use!
I’ve been using these ketone test strips for a few weeks now while following a keto diet, and they’ve been super helpful. The results are quick—usually in about 15 seconds—and the color chart is easy to read. I tested them against a blood ketone monitor and the readings were pretty consistent, which gave me confidence in the accuracy. The bottle is well-sealed and includes 150 strips, which is great value for the price. I test once or twice a day and still have plenty left. Just make sure to keep the cap tightly closed so they stay fresh. If you’re tracking ketosis or low-carb progress, these strips are a convenient and reliable option without spending a lot.

Read the directions before opening.
Read the brochure inside the box before you open the bottle; there are several things you need to be aware of before using this product. I have been on a 7-day water fast, and for 5 days, I got ZERO results with these strips. This was disappointing, especially when I have not been eating carbs, but also zero food. Then today I decided to skip the coffee that I was adding MCT oil and stevia to, and I believe this is the culprit for the zero readings. I tested today on day 6, and I am definitely in Ketosis. FINALLY, able to see that color change! I will keep them for my next fast in a few weeks, because I am looking forward to the day after tomorrow when I end my fast.....:)I gave it 4 stars because it is not made abundantly clear not to rip the foil off the bottle before using the product, or the importance of not storing it in the bathroom. You only learn this when you read the brochure, so it's easy to make a mistake and ruin the whole product.

Happy dieting! :/
I bought mine on July 3rd, 2017 and the bottle says they expire September 9th, 2019. However, it says once you open the seal they expire in three months. I'd assume that using one a day is enough, so unless you're sharing these there's no way you could use all of them in that amount of time.Just to put information out there, these test strips are designed to tell you if you are rapidly burning fat or not. If you are type 1 diabetic, you want your strips to come back negative. "Fat-loss dieters" want to see color change (positive). It's a really great way to see what stage you are in dieting or fasting. Although I will say I've been dieting for a while and I keep getting negative which is discouraging. I mean, at least I'm not gaining weight but these strips are pretty much telling me to do something extreme. Here's how to store the strips:•Keep in a cool dark place away from direct sunshine or moisture. Do not keep in the bathroom. Do not store in the refrigerator.•All unused strips must remain in the original bottle.•Replace cap immediately and tightly after removing strip.•Do not remove the white packet (Desiccants) from the bottle.•Do not touch test area.•Do not use after expiration date.•Once opened, use within 90 days.Warnings and Precautions:1. Any visual impairment, such as color blindness, will effect accuracy of reading results.2. To obtain best results, use fresh urine.3. Follow directions exactly.4. For optimal results, accurate timing is essential.5. Exposure of URS-1K to light, sunlight, heat, cold, moisture, condensation, or humidity will cause deterioration and decrease reactivity.6. The user (if diabetic) should follow up all positive results with his/her health care provider.7. Do not use after expiration date.8. Have fun! (Just kidding. Don't.)Here's the instructions for procedure. (As they're written)1. Remove one test strips from the bottle and replace cap immediately. DO NOT touch the test area of the strip.2. Collect urine specimen in a clean, dry container. While holding the plastic strip from the opposite end of the test pad immerse the test pad of the strip in the urine specimen or urine stream and remove immediately.3. Tap off excess urine.4. Begin timing and read the test results carefully at exactly 40 seconds in a well-lit area with the test pad held near the 6-panel color chart on the Ketone Script bottle label. Changes in color that appear after 40 seconds are of no diagnostic significance.5. All positive results should be confirmed by a health care provider.Sorry if all that's annoying, I would've found this helpful for me before buying so I hope this is helpful to someone else. I'm giving three stars because of the 3 month use cutoff. If I had known that I would have bought less strips.Happy dieting! :/

Do your homework or you'll be misled
As I delved deeper into books about autophagy and ketones, I learned that once the body is in the state of autophagy it uses up the ketones, so less ends up in your urine. It worked for me at first, as I was a beginner starting with intermittent fasting and then getting into longer fasts. I don't regret buying these, but I would have gotten discouraged had I not done my research because shortly after my purchase, my body was using up my ketones and not dumping them into my urine any longer. Thankfully, the answers are out there. Keep looking for answers, depending on your particular need for these, I found mine by ready The Obesity Code by Dr. Jason Fung. This is an excellent product. The instructions are great and is easy to use. It gets harder and harder to read if you are starting fasting (or if you've been fasting already). Good luck!

Works perfect, shipped fast, and very easy read out.
So started keto diet on the 1st (it's the 6th as I'm writing this) I did meal planning on my own and wanted to confirm what I was doing was correct.I just cut all carbs and obviously all sugar... on my 6 day and already at the max per the read out.Got the bottle 1 day after ordering, came fast and the expiration is more than 2 years from today... so for those wondering about shelf life, at least what they sent me is fantastic. The product is good for up to 3 months after opening. How it works is you litterally just pee in a cup, open the bottle and pull one tab out just touching the end at the top and stick the tab in the cup for a few seconds. Pull it out and compare 40 seconds after you put it in the cup.For me it went purple colored almost immediately and never changed even after 2 minutes so I dont think it's really that exact amount of seconds that you need to be worried if your 5 seconds off or something.Okay, now I'm going to go on a tangent about my personal meal planning that has nothing to do with the product so if you want to know keep reading...lolBreakfast 2 scrambled eggs and 0 carb cheese with some olive oil in the pan before scrambling. Then one avocado, a black coffee and a large glass of water with my daily multivitamin (not the gummy type as they are covered in sugar)For lunch I eat a salad and grilled chicken, not breaded and nothing but greens and olives and onions with a ranch dressing.Dinner I switch between fishes, steaks, chicken breast and all differnet kinds of greens.Snacking on olives (but dont get the grape leaf wraps at the Oliver bar they are full of carbs) small amount of walnuts and pumpkin seeds.Lots of water throughout the day, and an occasional meal skip with a keto (less then 1 carb) drink. Be careful on low carb stuff.... what you really want is no carb or less then 1 gram if you can in your meal planning.By the third day I started getting the super munchies and was craving carbs... now on the 6th day and it feels like i can now hold out.Oh and no beer or wine... if you have to drink it needs to be a 80 proof liquor (like a scotch or whiskey) and ice... no juices and no sodas. Stay away from all sugars even fake sugars like diet products.Well hope that helps and yes I definitely recommend this product.

Does not work - goes bad quickly
The first strip I got had an opening that was so hard to get through, I eventually used scissors. The pen and my finger wouldn't go through no matter how hard I pushed. I finally got through but the hole was a little bigger than pen sized. After days of using them, it looked like there was a little bit of pink but it was hard to tell. It was so hard to tell between negative and a trace even though I was having 20 and under carbs a day. I decided this were defective and got new ones. The replacement had a completely different top!!! I was expecting an extremely difficult foil seal so I pushed hard with my finger. There was no seal just foil! My finger immediately went through making a very big hole. Why was there two different foil seals!!! I decided to store these strips in my closet where it was dark, cool, and dry. The first strip worked, all the others did not. Every single strip stayed exactly the same color. Didn't even change to show negative. I know I was in ketosis. I have been intermittent fasting and eating less than 20 carbs a day, sometimes only 8-10. I will attempt to buy a different brand. These obviously don't work. Maybe if they had the same foil seal, I would've been able to make that small hole, but they didn't. I still can't imagine a finger sized hole seriously making the entire batch bad. I still quickly removed the strip and immediately replaced the cap.

Excellent, affordable, reliable.
I'm using these only when I am not using a ketone monitor (medical device) to measure my ketones. I.e. in between blood tests. What I recommend is that you use a ketone monitor if you can afford one, to get your 'right now' ketosis status, but using a ketone strip will help you just keep a track of the ketones *trend* in your body. They are not showing you what you have in the body, but the ketones you have LOST in urine, that have not been taken up for use as energy by the body. However, if you're losing them, at least you know they were there in the first place, which is a good thing. The ketone monitor (I use the On Call system) measures the 'right now' level of blood ketones. The ketone strip--that you pee on--measures the EXCRETION of ketones from your body. So, for example, if yesterday I did a blood test using the monitor and found my blood ketones were getting a bit low, I'd use a keto strip the next day to see if I excreted a lot. If I did, chances are I now don't have a high enough ketone reading so I might do a blood test to be sure.Or, I could just say, well, my blood ketones were lowish yesterday and I have lost a few, so let's take in more healthy fats and zero carbs, medium protein, etc, to push back into ketosis.Excreting a lot of ketones and showing a high level on even a keto strip could, of course, mean I have a very high blood level of ketones. But if I am following my trends, I will know which scenario applies. I have never encouraged a blood level above 2.0 mmol so I know that if I excrete too many, I am probably close to losing ketosis unless I modify the diet to raise the level. So, the keto strips are a very useful and cheap way to monitor which direction my ketones are moving--up or down. It's a case of wising up about myself and seeing what works; I am now at a stage where just knowing what my level was yesterday, and then peeing on a keto strip, will often give me within .1 mmol of what my blood test will show today. In other words, I am watching the trend and can deduct from that, how my body ketosis is.There are many days on which I do not have to use up a test strip and a lancet (needle) for my device simply by using the ketone strips as my interim trend monitor. It is important to use them that way--to measure the trend of ketones excreted--to a) know that you are likely still in ketosis and b) to know whether you're excreting and therefore wasting too many. Many people think a nice dark colour on a keto strip is good.It isn't really. a) you don't want high ketones in the body to a point where the pee strip turns too dark, as high ketones are dangerous (ketoacidosis). And b) as the pee strip measures ketones LOST in urine, it shows you're just wasting a percentage of your fuel.Because the excretion into the urine is more a reflection of what happened the day prior, (whereas blood tests show it as it is now) then I also don't read too much into a strip reading within the urine method. It shows a trend, not an actual. Here are two examples:Day 6. Blood ketone reading, 1.9 mmol. This was up on the previous day's blood test.Keto strip reading--showed 'moderate' which meant I had excreted many of these ketones. I either had to up my level of exercise to burn more fat and use up the extra ketones, or I needed to lower my caloric fat to lower my ketones next day. There was also a chance my body was producing more ketones in response to, say, fasting, but my personal pattern of eating and how these patterns show in the ketones, would usually indicate that the levels will drop soon if I have seen a ketone spike up around 1.6 and higher.Day 8:Blood ketone reading, 1.2 mmol. This was down on the previous day's blood test.Keto strip reading--showed 'light/trace' which meant I had excreted many of these ketones again.I had to increase my intake of healthy fats to increase my ketones slightly, because I foresaw that if I didn't, the ketones level in the blood could fall to below 0.5 by the next day, and I could end up losing the state of ketosis.Day 12I restricted my diet too much and my blood level fell to 0.8 mmol.I was able to increase healthy fats intake, and use a keto strip to pee on, to know that I was back in the 'trace' excretion level next day. This told me that if I did bloods, I'd be okay.I did take bloods, just to test my hypotheses about the trends, and my blood was showing 1.3 mmol again, so the strips are always an indicator of an upward or downward trend. You can, of course, just pee on one daily and not spend on a blood monitor, if all you want to know is that you're in ketosis. However, if you start to get very low pee readings on the urine strip, be careful, as you could easily lose ketosis by the next day. Always use these as indicators. The Nurse Hatty strips seem extremely reliable; I test them occasionally against Ketonix brand, and the colours are always the same.

So easy to use!
I love having the comparison colours on the strip itself. It makes reading the levels so easy. Definitely was a good choice.

Brilliant, no guess work involved.
I have only just started on my keto diet but I found these sticks invaluable, you can see how close you are to getting into ketosis, no guessing just pee on the stick in 40 seconds you’ll know.
